3 Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) At a Glance Established in 1949 under Statistics Ordinance and was known as Bureau of Statistics Statistics Act 1965 (Revised 1989) The principal legislation determining the functions and responsibilities of the DOSM Currently undertaking the revision of the Act Functions Main agency to collect, interpret, and disseminate official statistics for the purpose of policy making and national planning 3
