2 Цель: Проект предназначен для учащихся системы НПО, изучающих английский язык. Помогает педагогу донести более наглядно изучение новой лексической темы, используя ЦОР. Знакомит учащихся со страной изучаемого языка, способствует пониманию связной монологической речи, построенной на изученном грамматическом и лексическом материале, включенные тексты содержат познавательную ценность, что способствует более эффективному обучению языку.

5 or just - the USA, or the US.
This is the USA : The USA – the richest, and one of the biggest countries in the world – has several names. People say: the United States, the States, America, or just - the USA, or the US. There are fifty states in the USA, and 250 million people live in them. The USA is a federal republic.

6 America was founded by Columbus in 1492 year.
The USA is situated in the central part of the North American continent. Its western coast is washed by the Pacific Ocean and its eastern coast – by the Atlantic Ocean. The area of the USA is over nine million square kilometres. The main river of the USA is the Mississippi

7 Nicknames of the States:
You certainly know that the USA consists of fifty states. But you may not know that each if them has several unofficial names. For example : KANSAS – nickname is THE CENTRAL STATE, VERMONT- THE GREEN MOUNTAIN STATE MICHIGAN- the lake state, UTAH – the salt lake state, NEBRASKA- the blackwater state, NEW JERSEY – the garden state, ILLINOIS – state the land of Lincoln and other.

8 American symbols The American flag is often called the stars and stripes. There are three colours on the flag of the USA - red, white, blue. As there are fifty states in the US, there are fifty stars on the American flag – one star for each state. The American flag has thirteen stripes. The flag has seven red stripes and six white stripes. There is one stripe for each of the first thirteen colonies of the US.

10 State of Liberty Famous symbols of the USA is the Statue of Liberty. It stands 151 feet high and weighs pounds. France gave the statue to America in 1884 as a symbol of friendship. The Statue of Liberty, which you sees on Liberty Island if you arrive by sea, was a present from France for the hundredth anniversary of American independence.

12 The eagle The eagle became the official national
symbol of the country in 1782. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows strength).

13 Official song The USA has an official song. It is called:
« The Star-Spangled Banner.» Every state in the USA has its own flag, its own symbol and its own song too.

14 THE GOVERNMENT of the USА
Washington, Lincoln, Eisenhower, Kennedy – some of the great names of American history, the names of her Presidents. Congress has two parts, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. There are 100 members of the Senate, two from each state. The President cannot act without the Senate,s agreement. The House of Representatives has 435 members. Americans choose a new President every four years. Barak Оbama – is the President of USA now.

Washington won a lasting place in American History as «the Father of our Country.» For nearly 20 years he guided his country.

Washington lived an exciting life in exciting times. As a boy, he explored the wilderness. When he grew older, he helped the British fight the French and Indians. Many times he was nearly killed. As a general he suffered ! nardsnips with his troops in the cold winters. He lost many battles, but led the American Army to final victory. After he became President, he successfully solved many problems facing his country, Washington belonged to an old colonial family that believed in hard work, in public service and in worshipping God. George Washington was born in Westmoreland county, Virginia, on a farm, on February 22, Farming, land buying, trading, milling, and the iron industry were the means by which the family rose in the world. Вашингтон прожил бурную жизнь в бурное время. Мальчиком он исследовал дикие места. Когда подрос, он помогал британцам воевать с французами и индейцами. Его чуть не убили несколько раз. 17 WASHINGTON The capital of the USA is Washington D.C.
The US Congress has its seat in the Capitol, and the White House is the residence of the President. Washington is a beautiful administrative city without much industry. It has many famous monuments: The library of the Congress of the USA, The Washington Monument, The Abraham Lincoln Memorial, The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other.

20 NEW YORK Everyone knows something about New York – the Statue of Liberty, the skyscrapers, the beautiful shops on Fifth Avenue, and the many theatres on Broadway. New York consists of 5 districts- the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Richmond. This is America,s cultural capital, and her biggest city, with a population of nearly thirteen million.

24 NATIONAL LIFE At present the USA is a highly developed
industrial and agricultural country. It is rich in coal, oil, iron, natural gas. It exports a lot of raw materials, industrial and agricultural products. People enjoy the wonders of nature practically in every state.

27 Famous people Literature (writers) American culture has produced many outstanding writers: Emest Hemingway, William Faulkner, John Steinbeck - were very popular. Mark Twain was born in the state of Missouri in in 1876 he wrote «The Adventures of Tom Sawyer»

28 Mark Twain was born in the state of Missouri in the United States in His father was an unsuccessful lawyer. The family seldom lived more than a year or two in the same town. That is why the future writer did not even finish secondary school. He went to work at the age of 12. For two years he worked for his elder brother's small newspaper both as a printer and reporter. In 1857 he became a pilot on the Mississipi river. He continued to write. In 1876 he wrote "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". The book was read by everybody, by the young and old and was translated into nearly every language in the world. "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" was such a success that in 1884 he wrote "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", and then "Tom Sawyer Abroad" and "Tom Sawyer the Detective" in There were many other books written by Mark Twain. But his novels about Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn brought him world fame. Mark Twain's real name was Sammuel Clemens. He took his penname from the words "to mark" and "twain" which were used by leadsmen on the steamboats to mark the depth of two fathoms. Он избрал себе в качестве псевдонима выражение "марктвен", которое у лоцманов на пароходах обозначало глубину в две морские сажени.
