3 Day 1 Agenda 1.Sign on the attendance shift 2.Turn in your double-entry journal chapter 4 & Ch. 2 vocabulary Log 3.Prepare the quiz 4.http://facweb.northseattle.edu/jjung/http://facweb.northseattle.edu/jjung/ Homework  1.Start vocabulary log on p Write 4 sentences summary for the advantage and disadvantage to online shopping. 3. Go to the website, - First, Listen to the file 7 and follow along in your reading ‘Internet Shopping’ p. 24 – 25 (Check pronunciation). - After listening, read one more time by yourself (Quiet reading). 4. Finish comprehension questions (7, 8, 9, 10) after reading ‘Internet shopping’ on p.26-27

4 Write 4 sentences for the advantage and disadvantage to online shopping. 1. Read the reading text again. 2. Pick the key words from each paragraph. - Which information do you think is important to explain each paragraph? 3. Write a sentence for each paragraph using the key words.

5 Before reading ‘Internet Shopping’  New vocabulary strategy Do you remember the first strategy - using be-verb (is / are) when you see the new vocabulary? This time, look at the parentheses ( ) or a dash —.

6 Understanding new vocabulary  Using be-verb (is / are)  Using parentheses () Example They sell products in many categories (groups of similar things).  Using a dash “ – “ Example People can search for – look for – a book on the Internet.

7 Now you listen and read the reading text with the CD.  Check the pronunciation.  Check the new vocabulary you don’t know.  Finish the comprehension questions on pg. 26 & 27

8 Day 2 Agenda Starter: Yes / No question 1.Sign on the attendance sheet 2.Turn in your summary 3.Check the comprehension questions 4.Practice Summary 5.Talk about presentation Homework  1.Study spelling and definition on pg. 28 for tomorrow 2.Study irregular past tense on p.23 and make a sentence with the verb (spelling test tomorrow) 3.Do your DEJ for RW chapter 5 (due Thursday)

9 What is a summary? A summary is a retelling of a story that a. is always shorter than the original text. b. must be at least two paragraphs long. c. has no ending. d. gives new information that was not in the story.

11 Day 3 Agenda 1.Sign on the attendance sheet 2.Prepare the spelling quiz 3.Main ideas – Textbook pg Scanning Skills 5.Chapter choice and Presentation * Homework  1.Finish your DEJ for RW Ch. 5 2.Study chapter 2 vocabulary quiz for tomorrow. 3.Read the text ‘Predicting the Future of Shopping’ again and write a main idea sentence (one sentence of each paragraph).

12 Day 4 Agenda 1.Sign on the attendance sheet 2.Turn in your Ch. 5 DEJs 3.Vocabulary quiz 4.Summary practice 5.Reading skills 6.Chapter and presentation discussion * Homework  1.Start your DEJ for RW Ch. 6 2.Finish your Ch. 2 Vocabulary Log (Turn in on Monday) *For the vocabulary pronunciation, listen and repeat the audio file 6 & 8. That’ll help you to memorize words easily.
