Plan job Select and inspect equipment Prepare site and equipment Perform task Shut down and clean up www.easyguides.com.au How to use this presentation Home Prepare site and equipment Question 27. You will use a two-legged Grade T (80) chain in a choke hitch on a square load at an angle of 60 degrees. The weight of the load is 1750kg. What’s the smallest diameter slings you need to use? First, calculate the WLL. WLL = load ÷ angle factor ÷ reeve factor WLL = 1750 ÷ 1.73 x 0.75 WLL = 1348.7kg Now we can work out the diameter of the chain sling. Use the reverse “rule of thumb” formula for Grade T (80). Diameter = √(WLL ÷ 32) D = √(1348.7 ÷ 32) D = √42.14 D = 6.49mm (round up) D = 7mm marker Click for answer
