7  BE ON TIME  BE OF GOOD CHARACTER ON THE COURT, IN THE CLASSROOM AND THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY  GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT THREE SIMPLE RULES TO ABIDE BY TO BE IN OUR BASKETBALL PROGRAM. HOPEFULLY YOU WILL CARRY THEM WITH YOU AFTER YOU LEAVE.

8  BE ON TIME OUR DEFINITION OF ON TIME IS DRESSED AND READY TO GO AT THE DESIGNATED START TIME. CONSEQUENCE PLAYERS WILL PUSH TOWELS AND INITIAL THEIR DISCIPLINE LOG IF THEY ARE LATE.

9  BE OF GOOD CHARACTER ON THE COURT, IN THE CLASSROOM AND THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY CONSEQUENCE IF WE RECEIVE A NEGATIVE REPORT FROM A TEACHER YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PUSH TOWELS AND WE WILL REPORT IT IN THEIR DISCIPLINE LOG. ALL OTHER CHARACTER ISSUES THAT ARISE IN SCHOOL, AT SCHOOL FUNCTIONS, PRACTICE, GAMES, LOCKER ROOM, ETC THAT ARE NOT COVERED IN OUR POLICIES.....THESE WILL BE UP TO THE COACH’S DISCRETION AND DEALT WITH IN A CONSISTENT MANNER. SOME VIOLATIONS MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO; TRUANCY, SKIPPING, INSUBORDINATION, VIOLENCE, CHEATING, D HALLS, ISS

10  GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT OUR GOAL IS TO BE THE HARDEST WORKING TEAM IN DISTRICT 13-5A IN PRACTICE AND GAMES. CONSEQUENCE  IF WE DON’T GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT IN PRACTICE WE WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL CONDITIONING.  IF WE DON’T GIVE MAXIMUM EFFORT IN GAMES WE WON’T BE SUCCESSFUL IN THAT GAME.

11  WE WILL HAVE AN INITIAL ROUND OF CUTS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF BASKETBALL SEASON.  OUR FINAL ROUND OF CUTS WILL NOT BE UNTIL FOOTBALL SEASON IS OVER.  THERE MAY BE KIDS THAT GET CUT AFTER FOOTBALL SEASON IS OVER.  ONCE WE MAKE FINAL CUTS WE WILL DECIDE WHAT TEAM EACH PLAYER IS ON.  CUTS AND WHAT TEAM EACH PLAYER IS ON IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COACHING STAFF

12  TUTORIALS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR SOME STUDENT ATHLETES THAT DON’T KEEP THEIR GRADES HIGH ENOUGH.  TUTORIALS ARE TO GET EXTRA HELP ON TOPICS AND SUBJECT MATTER THAT YOU ARE NOT GRASPING DURING THE CLASS PERIOD.  TUTORIALS ARE NOT FOR COMPLETING ASSIGNMENTS OR PROJECTS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT HOME OR DURING CLASS.  DURING THE TYPICAL WEEK OUR (JV/VARSITY) PLAYERS WILL HAVE THREE OR FOUR OPPORTUNITIES AND (SOPH/9A/9B) WILL HAVE TWO TO THREE TO ATTEND AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIALS FOR ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION FROM THEIR TEACHER.  ACADEMICS ARE OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY, BUT WE DON’T WANT PLAYERS MISSING PRACTICE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TAKING CARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE CLASSROOM OR AT HOME.

13  ALL PRACTICE AND GAME SCHEDULES WILL BE POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE. OAKBASKETBALL.COM

14  OCTOBER 29 TH o AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICE BEGINS  NOVEMBER 18 TH o SENIOR APPRECIATION NIGHT  JANUARY 16 TH o ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NIGHT  JANUARY 27 TH o JUNIOR HIGH NIGHT  FEBRUARY 3 RD o TEACHER APPRECIATION NIGHT

15  ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO RIDE THE BUS HOME FROM AWAY GAMES.  IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO RIDE HOME WITH THEIR PARENT/GUARDIAN IF THEY HAVE FOLLOWED THE PROPER PROCEDURES.  PLAYERS WILL ONLY BE RELEASED IF THEY HAVE FILLED OUT A TRAVEL RELEASE FORM AND TURNED IT IN TO THEIR COACH DURING THE ATHLETIC PERIOD THE DAY OF THE GAME.  NO PLAYERS WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE ELSE’S PARENT/GUARDIAN.  9B/SOPH PLAYERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE AFTER THEIR GAME. 9A/JV PLAYERS WILL STAY THROUGH THE VARSITY GAME AND SIGN OUT AFTER ALL HOME GAMES. THEY WILL RIDE HOME WITH VARSITY FOR ALL AWAY GAMES.

16 THANKSGIVING-NOVEMBER IF A TEAM ISN’T LISTED THEN THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE HERE. HOWEVER THE GYM WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THEM TO PUT UP SHOTS IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO.

17 CHRISTMAS-DECEMBER-JANUARY IF A TEAM ISN’T LISTED THEN THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE HERE. HOWEVER THE GYM WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THEM TO PUT UP SHOTS IF THEY WOULD LIKE TO.

18  ANY STUDENT ATHLETE THAT WILL NOT BE AT PRACTICE WILL BE REQUIRED TO CONTACT ONE OF THEIR COACHES DIRECTLY BEFORE PRACTICE. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SEND WORD WITH A TEAMMATE. COACHES CONTACTS CAN BE FOUND ON THE PREVIOUS SLIDES AND ON OUR WEBSITE  FAILURE TO ATTEND PRACTICE COULD EFFECT THEIR PLAYING TIME IN THE NEXT GAME.  ANY PLAYER THAT HAS AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO INITIAL THEIR DISCIPLINE LOG.  REPEATED UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE PROGRAM.

19  NOTIFY THE COACHING STAFF FIRST.  VISIT OUR TRAINING STAFF BEFORE GOING TO THE DOCTOR.  ALL PLAYERS THAT GET HURT MUST VISIT THE TRAINING ROOM BEFORE SCHOOL FOR TREATMENT. IF YOU DON’T MAKE IT BEFORE SCHOOL THEN WE WILL ASSUME THAT YOU AREN’T HURT.  VISIT YOUR DOCTOR AFTER SPEAKING WITH OUR ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF. o ALL PLAYERS THAT GET HELD OUT BY A DOCTOR MUST PROVIDE A DOCTOR’S NOTE TO GET CLEARED TO BEGIN PRACTICING AGAIN.  TRAINING STAFF CONTACT INFORMATION o LISA OLIVER- o CATHERINE LAWRENCE-

20  COACH’S PHILOSOPHY  THE EXPECTATION HE HAS FOR YOUR SON AND ALL THE OTHER PLAYERS ON THE TEAM.  LOCATION AND TIMES OF ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES.  TEAM REQUIREMENTS (FEES, SPECIAL EQUIPMENT NEEDED, IMPORTANT DATES)  PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW WHEN YOUR CHILD IS INJURED DURING PARTICIPATION.

21  CONCERNS ABOUT YOUR STUDENT ATHLETE EXPRESSED DIRECTLY TO THE COACH AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME AND PLACE.  SPECIFIC CONCERNS ABOUT THE COACH’S PHILOSOPHY OR EXPECTATIONS.  NOTIFICATION OF ANY SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WELL IN ADVANCE.

22  ALL PARENTS NEED TO FOLLOW THE PROPER PROCEDURE WHEN HANDLING CONCERNS. o HAVE YOUR CHILD TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THEIR COACH AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME AND PLACE FIRST. o IF THAT DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE THE YOU SHOULD CALL THE COACH TO SET UP A MEETING. o THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH DURING THE MEETING. o MAKE SURE THAT WE STAY ON TOPIC DURING OUR MEETING.  IF WE CANNOT COME TO A HEALTHY SOLUTION TO YOUR ISSUES OR CONCERNS THEN YOU CAN CONTACT OUR CAMPUS AD.  DAVID SMITH-CAMPUS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR 

24  JOIN THE KLEIN OAK BOYS BASKETBALL BOOSTER CLUB o OUR BOOSTER CLUB IS A TERRIFIC ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS US RAISE MONEY TO OBTAIN THE THINGS WE NEED TO KEEP OUR PROGRAM RUNNING AT A HIGH LEVEL. o VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH ONE OF OUR COMMITTEES OR INQUIRE ABOUT BECOMING AN OFFICER IN THE FUTURE. o WE WILL HAVE OUR BOOSTER CLUB OFFICERS AVAILABLE TO DISCUSS YOUR MEMBERSHIP AFTER THE MEETING IS OVER. o VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME TO HELP ON SPECIAL GAME NIGHTS.

25  ATHLETIC FEE-$20  HOME GAME TODAY T-SHIRT-$15  KLEIN OAK BASKETBALL T-SHIRT-$15  KIDS WILL NEED MONEY TO EAT DINNER AT HOME AND AWAY GAMES IF THEY DON’T BRING FOOD WITH THEM.

26 DO IT!!  ALL ATHLETES ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY SPORT THEY ARE ABLE TO MAKE AT KLEIN OAK HIGH SCHOOL.  ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN BASKETBALL WILL BE GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRY OUT FOR ANY SPORT AFTER THE COMPLETION OF OUR SEASON.

27  HE WILL LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF AN EDUCATION.  HE WILL LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY.  HE WILL LEARN HOW TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS OWN ACTIONS.  HE WILL LEARN HOW TO TREAT THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM.  HE WILL LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP A STRONG WORK ETHIC.  HE WILL DEVELOP INTO A YOUNG MAN THAT IS READY TO COMPETE AT A HIGH LEVEL IN OUR SOCIETY.
