1 Pick up Textbooks/handout Entry Task: On a piece of notebook paper answer the following: Beowulf is more than 1,200 years old. What aspects of the poem do you feel has a more contemporary feel/theme than you might have expected? What might a modern-day Beowulf look like? The Anglo-Saxons valued Honor, Bravery, Generosity, Loyalty; do you feel that modern society values these principles? Explain. Place Glass Castle journals and incident report on corner of desk to be checked.

What is the plan Jeannette and Lori come up with in this section? Name two ways that Rex tries to sabotage this plan. (1 pt each, 3 pts total). a. they will save money and leave Welch. Lori will go first (after she graduates) and Jeannette will follow b. Rex he steals their money (breaks “Oz” open), he hurts Lori’s chance of a scholarship (destroys her bust of Shakespeare/erases his mouth), he brings out the plans for the Glass Castle, he warns them of the terrible things that will happen in New York 4.
