4/25/20152 Admissions Basics – A Quick Review Minimum Transfer Admission Requirements Major Preparation General Education Requirements Academic Record Evaluation Pointers Tools and Tips for Advising Students UC Transfer Paths UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC-TAP) Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) Resources Workshop Overview
Minimum Admission Requirements 4/25/20153 To establish eligibility as a junior level transfer: 60 UC-transferable semester (90 quarter) units 2.4 GPA in UC-transferable courses Complete the required 7-course pattern with a grade of C or better in each course 7-course pattern: 2 in English composition 1 in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning 4 in at least 2 of these areas Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Physical and Biological Sciences Eligibility versus Selection at Individual Campuses
Prepare students for upper division work. Selective majors admit students based on major preparation completed prior to transfer. Major preparation courses may be a higher priority than general education courses at some campuses. Major preparation courses can be found on ASSIST website. 912.13.2010 Major Preparation
Each school and college at each UC campus has GE “breadth” requirements. CCC students have the option to complete IGETC to satisfy lower-division GE requirements. IGETC is NOT an admission eligibility requirement. Completing GE, either through IGETC or campus-specific requirements, may be a selection reqirment for some programs and campuses. 912.13.2010 General Education Each school and college at each UC campus has GE “breadth” requirements. CCC students have the option to complete IGETC to satisfy lower- division GE requirements. IGETC is NOT an admission eligibility requirement. Completing GE, either through IGETC or campus-specific requirements, may be a selection requirement for some programs and campuses. Be sure GE/IGETC pattern is appropriate for intended major. General Education
Transfer Course Agreement (TCA) 4/25/20156 Identifies UC-transferable courses at each CCC. First level of articulation between UC and CCC; all courses listed are transferable to every UC campus Individual UC campuses may, as appropriate, articulate courses to specific lower-division courses/graduation requirements.
CCC to UC Major Articulation 4/25/20157 The major articulation agreements offer students guidance in preparing for specific majors at each UC campus. Second level of articulation between UC and CCC. Indicates courses that fulfill major prep; alerts if IGETC is acceptable; explains use of AP/IB credit toward subject requirements, etc.

The Review Begins Using sample admission applications, we will explain how we evaluate the academic record of transfer applicants, step-by- step. Evaluators move term by term through the applicant’s self- reported courses and grades to determine whether the courses are UC-transferable and to derive a cumulative GPA.
Gaps in Education 4/25/201510 Name/LocationSchool Code TypeBegin/End Dates Language of Instruction Fitzgerald HS Santa Maria CA 053305Pub HS08/2004 - 06/2007 English **Potential Gap in Education: fall 2007-spring 2008** Santa Barbara CC Santa Barbara CA 004690CCC/2yr08/2008 - 07/2013 English UC evaluators review the list of institutions the student attended, paying special attention to begin and end dates. Any gaps in education prompt them to look for an explanation in the application.

Transfer Tools & Programs ASSIST: It is the road map Transfer Preparation Paths UC TAP: Create an account TAG: Apply
4/25/201524 ASSIST Online information system providing the most accurate and up-to-date information for California transfer students: Is the official repository of articulation for California’s public colleges and universities. Shows how course credits earned at one public California college or university can be applied when transferring to another institution. Explore majors available at University of California and CSU campuses Allows students to explore transferable coursework from the CCC to the UC using: Transfer Course Agreement (TCA) CCC to UC Major Articulation (UC-CCC Course Articulation)www.assist.org
4/25/201525 UC Transfer Preparation Paths An tool to advise students early based on either their intended major or their campus of interest. Admission requirements Students may determine minimum eligibility for UC campus and additional requirements Transfer path by major (statewide) Students may use this path to take coursework to prepare for multiple UC campuses in their major of choice. Transfer path by campus (campus specific) Students may use this path to identify required coursework at a specific campus for a specific major or similar majors. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/preparation-paths/
4/25/201528 Transfer Admission Planner UC TAP is an online tool to help prospective transfer students plan and track their course work. The tool is designed for use by students transferring from California community colleges to UC. Students can use the TAP to enter their course work. The planner helps students track their progress toward meeting UC's minimum requirements, and allows UC staff to communicate important information to prospective transfer students. All information collected is considered confidential and is shared only with students' community colleges, UC admissions officers, and UC Education Partnership Programs personnel.
4/25/201529 Transfer Admission Guarantee Six campuses offer guaranteed admission to students who meet specific TAG requirements UC Davis UC Irvine UC Merced UC Riverside UC Santa Barbara UC Santa Cruz Requirements vary – refer to the TAG Matrix Students can submit a TAG application to ONE campus. The filing period for TAG is September 1-30.
