2 (c) St Patrick's Cathedral Grammar School Form What are Industrial relations? Industrial relations refers to quality of the relationship that exist between the owners or employers and employees in an organisation.

This act protects the employees from being sued for losses of production or damages to machinery, caused by a strike or industrial action, provided the correct procedures have been taken. The act also outlines how they can picket.

4 (c) St Patrick's Cathedral Grammar School Form What are the correct procedures for a strike? Union gives notice of a forthcoming vote to members? Secret Ballot among members. If the majority of the votes are in favour of industrial action and the union decides on a strike, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) must be notified. The employer must be given 1 weeks notice of the forthcoming strike.
