2. 2 NELRP Purpose Provide economic assistance in an effort to recruit and retain professional Registered Nurses dedicated to providing health care in designated critical shortage facilities and educational institutions which offer nursing curriculums.

3. 3 NELRP Eligibility To be eligible for the NELRP, the applicant must: Be a U.S. Citizen; U.S. National; Lawful Permanent Resident Have completed a qualified nursing education program leading to a degree or diploma in Nursing Be employed FT at a qualified critical shortage facility or accredited school of nursing Possess a current, full, permanent, unencumbered, unrestricted RN license valid in the state in which they are employed Have outstanding, qualified nursing education loans

4. 4 NELRP Funding Preference Insufficient funds to award all qualified applicants Sequential order determined by: Greatest Need - Debt/Salary Ratio Facility Preference Type Nurse Faculty – accredited educational institution Base (Preference 1): DSH; Critical Access Hospital; Nursing Home; State or Local Public Health or Human Services; Federally Designated Health Center (and Look- Alike); Indian Health Service Health Center; Native Hawaiian Health Center; Rural Health Clinic Historically – Preference 1 > 80%
