Memory Verse: Joel 2:28 “ 28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.” BIBLE PASSAGE: Acts 2:1-21 INTRODUCTION: Prophet Joel received the promise of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all flesh - Joel 2:28, which was also emphasised by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples at His departure – Acts 1:8. This promise came to fulfilment on the day of Pentecost in the lives of the then believers – Acts 2:1-4. It is a Christian experience that must follow genuine salvation and sanctification.

It makes the believer spirit-filled, spirit-motivated, spirit-controlled and spirit-empowered. It entails the following: 1.Make sure your salvation experience is genuine – Acts 2:38, Acts 10:44, Galatians 3:2, 5, 14. 2.Live a sanctified life – Matthew 5:8, Ephesians 4:24. 3.Thirst after God’s righteousness – Matthew 5:6

Outline 2: RESULTS OF THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. a.There will be an initial evidence of speaking in tongues or an unknown language – Acts 2:1-4. b.Baptism with the Holy Spirit gives the Christian boldness in his daily witnessing life, service and testimony – 2 Timothy 1:7, Acts 4:29, 31, 33, Acts 1:5, 8. c.At baptism, the Holy Spirit bestows different gifts to believers to make them useful vessels – 1 Corinthians 12:4-10 and unless you are baptised, you cannot know your gifts clearly not to talk of using them for the Lord. d.The Holy Spirit empowers a believer to live a godly life. He quickens his spirit and produces in him a holy living – John 6:63, 2 Corinthians 3:6.
CONCLUSION You may not know the usefulness of the Holy Spirit until you have the power. Ask for the Holy Spirit from the Father today and He will give you as He has promised - Luke 11:9-13, Matthew 7:7. If you have been baptised, are you experiencing the result of the baptism everyday of your life? Ask the Lord to strengthen you with the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can become an effective instrument for Him today.
