2International Baccalaureate Diploma Program The IB Diploma Program is a comprehensive and rigorous pre-university course of study for the highly motivated secondary student. It was designed to develop the individual talents of young people molding them into truly well-rounded, well-educated individuals who are aware that they are members of a complex, global society.

5Requirements of the IB Program for obtaining the IB Diploma: Over the course of 2 years students will complete:6 Exams – subject to registration & exam costsExtended Essay that requires a staff advisorCAS (Creativity, Action, Service) that requires a staff advisor
6WHS Pre-IB Application Process Must Meet 2 Criteria:Have a 3.00 GPA in Core Academic Courses at the 8th grade level.Have completed Algebra I by the end of 8th grade.Complete & submit application & a copy of 1st semester report card by February 11.
7Pre-IB Ninth Grade Schedule Options: Summer School - 1 Core Academic Course (Biology H or World History H –Tuition Based (taken summer prior to or after 9th grade)Grade 9:4 Core Academic Courses (2 of the following: Biology H, World History H, or Math and English 1H and World Language)PEElectiveCore Academic Courses –No Additional Core Academic Course May Be Taken during the 9th Grade Year!

14Summer School Registration Information June 8 – July 16 Summer School is highly recommended but not required.More information on summer School can be found on the Walnut High School website under the Courtesy Link to the Dedicated to Learning Website by mid-February. Registration will begin the first week of March.
