Labor Stage

2. وَنُقِرُّ فِي الْأَرْحَامِ مَا نَشَاءُ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى
After completion of nine months the fetus is fully grown in the womb and is it due to come out after spending a specified period there. Allah says:
وَنُقِرُّ فِي الْأَرْحَامِ مَا نَشَاءُ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى
And we cause whom we will to remain in the wombs for an appointed term
(Surah Al-Hajj 22:5)

3. The appointed term is specified and the specified period is known
The appointed term is specified and the specified period is known. Allah says:
(22) إِلَى قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُوم
(21) فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ
(23) فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُون َ
“Then we placed it in a place of safety (womb) for a known period (determined by gestation)? So we did measure; and We are the best to measure (the things).”
(Surah Al-Mursalat)

4. (26) فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْنًا
The Quran says, describing the state of Maryam pbuh:
(23) فَأَجَاءَهَا الْمَخَاضُ إِلَى جِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَا لَيْتَنِي مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّا
(24) فَنَادَاهَا مِن تَحْتِهَا أَلاَّ تَحْزَنِي قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّا
(25) وَهُزِّي إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ النَّخْلَةِ تُسَاقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا
(26) فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْنًا
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!” 23
But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee; 24
"And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee. 25
"So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, 'I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being'” 26
(Surah Maryam)

5. Benefits of dates for labor
Dates are full of fiber that help in averting constipation. It is a natural laxative that helps in easing labor. Dates contain more than 70 percent glucose; it is easy to suck on and provides much needed energy during labor.
Dates contain a substance that
helps in stimulating contraction
of the uterus during labor.
They contain salts such as magnesium, potassium which is necessary for muscles.
They contain iron and much more.

7. Phases of labor.
The labor stage which ends with birth has four phases.
1.Expansion and contraction of the cervix: This phase lasts for about 7 to 12 hours. The cervix expands and stretches to allow the passage of the fetus.

8. ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ
2.Coming out of the baby:
This stage lasts for 30 to 50 minutes. It starts after sufficient expansion of the cervix as a result of successive contractions.
The head of the fetus comes out first. The diameter of the fetus head could exceed 12cm and this triple the diameter of the cervix in normal state. When we observe this we would realize Allah’s wisdom in His saying,
ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ
Then He makes the path easy for him.
(Surah Abasa Ay. 20)

9. 3.Coming out of the placenta and forming of coagulated blood after that: This phase lasts for about 15 minutes. 4.Shrinking of the uterus: This shrinking reduces post delivery hemorrhage . This phase lasts for up to 2 hours.

10. Blessed is Allah, the most just of judges!
After the delivery and the severance of the umbilical cord, the new born then starts another phase of its life.

11. (14) وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
Quranic verses give a description of major phases that a human fetus passes through right from its conception to its birth. At the time the Quran was being revealed it informed mankind about the stages of human formation using the exact terms that agree with modern scientific rules and affirming that formation and development of the fetus occur in phases and stages. The Quran says:
(14) وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا
(13) مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا
“Whats the matter with you, [you fear not Allah (his punishment) and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His oneness) While he has created you in different stages.
(Surah Nuh)

12. سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ (53) الْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things? (53)
