Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poore in spirit: for theirs is the kingdome of heauen. What does Jesus mean? *Discuss the Plain Speech-Unsaved *Discuss the Spiritual Understanding to the Saints
1.2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any priuate Interpretation: 2. Prov 11:14 Where no counsell is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safetie. 3.Psalm 119:24 Thy testimonies also are my delight: and my counsellers. 4.Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be vpon precept, precept vpon precept, line vpon line, line vpon line, here a litle, and there a litle.
Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poore in spirit: for theirs is the kingdome of heauen. James 2:5 Hearken, my beloued brethren, Hath not God chosen the poore of this world, rich in faith, and heires of the kingdome, which hee hath promised to them that loue him? Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things haue beene, saith the Lord: but to this man wil I looke, euen to him that is poore and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
James 5:1 Goe to now, yee rich men, weepe and howle for your miseries that shall come vpon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments motheaten: 3 Your gold and siluer is cankered, and the rust of them shall bee a witnesse against you, and shall eate your flesh as it were fire: ye haue heaped treasure together for the last dayes. 1 Sam 2:7 The Lord maketh poore, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth vp. Review Psalm 49
Regarding Israel: Romans 11:9 And Dauid sayth, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling blocke, and a recompense vnto them. 10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow downe their backe alway. 11 I say then; Haue they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid. But rather through their fall, saluation is come vnto the Gentiles, for to prouoke them to ielousie. 12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them, the riches of the Gentiles: how much more their fulnesse?
Thus saith the Lord: 1 Cor 2:13 Which things also we speake, not in the words which mans wisedome teacheth, but which the holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spirituall. Mat 13:13 Therefore speake I to them in parables: because they seeing, see not: and hearing, they heare not, neither doe they vnderstand. 1 Cor 2:14 But the naturall man receiueth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishnesse vnto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Layers of an Onion and Gods Word Outer layer- Natural Words (refer also to Lexicons) Everyone can discern these- Plain speech, solid teaching In parables. Eg: Behemoth is usually a dinosaur or Hippo. Inner layers- Spiritual Words Holy Ghost must discern these to saved people without slumber, solid spiritual teaching In parables. Eg: Behemoth is an elephant and the king of Babylon. Can count number in Rev 13:18 Middle layers- Spiritual Words Holy Ghost must discern these to saved people, solid teaching In parables throughout scripture. Some spiritual language is understood. Cannot count number of the beast in Rev 13:18
Prov 28:11 The rich man is wise in his owne conceit: but the poore that hath vnderstanding searcheth him out. Also discuss Rev 13:18, Mat 24:15, Mark 13:14 Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and haue need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poore, and blinde, and naked.
Job 28:1 Surely there is a veine for the siluer, and a place for golde where they fine it. Psalm 135:15 The idoles of the heathen are siluer and golde: the worke of mens hands. 16 They haue mouthes, but they speake not: eyes haue they, but they see not: 17 They haue eares, but they heare not: neither is there any breath in their mouthes. Mat 13:22 He also that receiued seed among the thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world, and the deceitfulnesse of riches choke the word, and he becommeth vnfruitfull.
Rev 18:11 And the Merchants of the earth shall weepe and mourne ouer her, for no man buyeth their merchandise any more. 12 The merchandise of gold, and siluer, and pretious stones… (Riches of wisdom, understanding and false prophets of men.)
Psalm 112:1 Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his Commaundements. 2 His seed shall bee mightie vpon earth: the generation of the vpright shalbe blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shalbe in his house: and his righteousnesse endureth for euer. Psalm 119:14 I haue reioyced in the way of thy testimonies: as much as in all riches.
Proverbs 15:33 The feare of the Lord is the instruction of wisedome; and before honour is humilitie. Proverbs 22:4 By humilitie and the feare of the Lord, are riches, and honour, and life. Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poore in spirit: for theirs is the kingdome of heauen. The Spirit is saying blessed are those born again in Christ who reject the riches of mans wisdom when it comes to the Word of God.
Proverbs 13:7 There is that maketh himselfe rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himselfe poore, yet hath great riches. Proverbs 24:4 And by knowledge shall the chambers bee filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Ezekiel 28:4 With thy wisedome and with thine vnderstanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and siluer into thy treasures.
