1 Corinthians 12: v.25 No division in the body 2. v.26 Interpersonal life in the church. 3. Observations on gift lists: v Covet earnestly the best gifts v.31

Matthew 10:2(NKJV) 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Acts 1:2-4(NKJV) 2 until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;

Acts 2:42(NKJV) 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Ephesians 3:5(NKJV) 5 which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:

2 Peter 3:2(NKJV) 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of £ us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,

Acts 1:20(NKJV) 20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it’; £ and, ‘Let another take his £ office.’ £

Psalms 109:8(NKJV) 8 Let his days be few, And let another take his office.

Acts 1:22(NKJV) 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

Acts 4:33(NKJV) 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Acts 5:32(NKJV) 32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

1 Corinthians 15:8(NKJV) 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

Acts 9:15(NKJV) 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

Acts 9:31(NKJV) 31 Then the £ churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

1 Corinthians 9:2(NKJV) 2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

2 Corinthians 12:12(NKJV) 12 Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.

Acts 2:43(NKJV) 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

Acts 5:12(NKJV) 12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.

Galatians 1:1(NKJV) 1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),

2 Corinthians 11:13(NKJV) 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

Revelation 2:2(NKJV) 2 “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;

1 Corinthians 4:9(NKJV) 9 For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

Romans 16:7(NKJV) 7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

1 Corinthians 15:5-7(NKJV) 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.

Philippians 2:25(NKJV) 25 Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, but your messenger and the one who ministered to my need;

2 Corinthians 8:23(NKJV) 23 If anyone inquires about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you. Or if our brethren are inquired about, they are messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ.

1 Corinthians 14:29(NKJV) 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21(NKJV) 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

“It does mean that prophecy cannot escape such evaluation; and it presupposes that there is a deposit of apostolic teaching, a given content, that is nonnegotiable and can serve as the criterion both of further teaching and of prophecy.” (Showing the Spirit pg. 130)

“There is an important corollary to this testing. If this was the common practice in the churches regulated by Paul, it follows that a prophet who treated his or her prophecy as so immediate and direct and untarnished a product of divine inspiration that it should be questioned by no true believer, would not only be stepping outside the Pauline restrictions but would, presumably, ultimately fall under the suspicions of the church.” (Pg. 121 Showing the Spirit)

1 Corinthians 14:32(NKJV) 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

1 Corinthians 14:30(NKJV) 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent.

Matthew 16:17(NKJV) 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

1 Corinthians 2:10(NKJV) 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Matthew 11:27(NKJV) 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Philippians 3:15(NKJV) 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

“Thus, when Paul presupposes in 1 Corinthians 14:30 that the gift of prophecy depends on revelation, we are not limited to a form of authoritative revelation that threatens the finality of the canon.” (Carson pg )
