Questions Why do you think voter turnout is so low in the United States? How can we improve voter turnout in the U.S.? Brainstorm 3 specific things we can do in the U.S. to improve voter turnout.
Possible Ways to Improve Voter Turnout Vote by mail (like Oregon does). Hold elections on weekends. Change voting times so that all states close their polls at the same time of the day. Do not allow the media to report election results until all the polls are closed. Fine registered voters who do not vote. Offer a tax incentive to registered voters who vote. Publish names of registered voters who do not vote. Have all businesses close at noon on election day. Make national voting days a national holiday.
Last Question What is negative about having higher levels of voter turnout? In other words, do we really want 100% voter turnout?
