Boasters only in weakness 2 Corinthians 11:16 – 12:10 When I am weak then I am strong! (12:10)
Corinthian culture stressed: A rugged individualism that valued self- sufficiency. Wealth as the key to status within society. A display of one’s accomplishments and possessions in order to win praise from others. A competition for recognition and honour that viewed boasting as its natural by product. A pride in one’s neighbourhood as a reflection of one’s social position.

‘Fool’ of Proverbs. 14:1 The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. 12:16 A Fool shows his annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult. 14:16 The wise fear the L ORD and shun evil, but a fool is hot-headed and yet feels secure. 10:21 The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of sense.
3 things about weakness: 1.Jesus chose weakness. Phil 2 2.Weakness -the fabric of a fallen world 3.Life in the spirit - Weak made strong.
It’s all about the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives, not about our personal strengths and accomplishments. The weaker we are the more God can work in us or through us.
In our weakness the Holy Spirit: Transforms us to be more and more like Christ Speaks to us. Speaks through us. Helps and guides us.
Boasters in weakness 1.Make Jesus their example. 2.Persevere through difficulty by relying on God’s grace 3.Look to the Holy Spirit rather than depending on their own abilities
