Columns There are three types of columns. Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. Doric is plain. Ionic has spirals. Corinthian is a combined version of the two with its own touch.
Gargoyles Gargoyles are stone figures which were half human, animal and bird. They sit on edges of roofs of many old cathedrals, palaces and other buildings.
Downtown Houston At Downtown Houston we saw different types of styled buildings. We saw Art Deco, Post Modernism and Modern.
Different types of Architecture We learned about different types of architecture. We learned about Baroque, Classical, Art Deco, Ancient Egypt, Modern and Post Modernism.
Classical Architecture I studied about classical architecture. Classical architecture started in Greece during, ‘The Age of Heroes.’ In this period people built buildings based of what it represents, not by the way it looked. ‘Olympus’ ->
Classical Architecture continued I studied about columns, the Coliseum, the Parthenon, the Pantheon, temples and the Forum of Rome.
Sky Tower My building Sky Tower has a skywalk to walk from one side of the building to the other. It also uses two solar panels to conserve energy. It was made of silver/gray paint, cardboard paper and note cards.
Triboard My triboard holds some basic information along with some information about buildings that contain the same architecture that I studied. My triboard also has a trivia.
Conclusion I learned a lot in encounters about the architecture style I studied. I learned that the Romans ‘perfected’ the Greek's style. I also learned that classical started in and during the ‘Age of Heroes.’
