EXPOSITION of SCIENCE High Desert, 2013 The Latest TECHNOLOGICAL MARVELS! Fine Displays AMUSEMENTS! Practical Teaching You will refuse to believe your eyes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGfRgU4cPrY Imagine yourself at a County, State or even World’s Fair during the Industrial era (1851- 1938). Machines, electricity, and zany inventions, such as “eye protectors for chickens” along with the latest advances in horticulture and husbandry, fill the exposition halls. The patriotic marches of John Philip Sousa and lively Rag Time music fill the air. Ice cream cones, iced tea, and hot dogs are examples of some of the new foods and beverages served in the Midway. Soon you realize what President McKinley meant in his speech at the Pan American Exposition in 1901: Expositions are the timekeepers of progress. They record the world's advancements. They stimulate the energy, enterprise, and intellect of the people, and quicken human genius. They go into the home. They broaden and brighten the daily life of the people. They open mighty storehouses of information to the student.... (excerpt) William McKinley, US President http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCXFUqdu_KA
