There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n It is moving to hear an account of someone who was adopted into a godly family!

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n It is moving to hear an account of someone who was adopted into a godly family! n In the home we are nurtured, instructed, disciplined and loved.

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Our God has chosen to adopt us! (Eph 1:4-6)

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Ephesians 1:4-6 - just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Imagine being a son of the king. Now imagine being a son of the almighty God!

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Imagine being a son of the king. Now imagine being a son of the almighty God! n We should daily remember the basis of our adoption.

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Imagine being a son of the king. Now imagine being a son of the almighty God! n We should daily remember the basis of our adoption. n It was not because we were loveable.

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Never forget where you came from Christian! (Eph 2:1-3)

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n Ephesians 2:1-3 - And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

There is great power found in the kind of home you come from. n 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Sonship has its privileges. n What did Moses give up when he sided with the Israelites? (Heb 11:24-26)

Sonship has its privileges. n Hebrews 11: By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Sonship has its privileges. n He was considered an heir to the power and riches in Egypt. These riches are temporary and do not satisfy.

Sonship has its privileges. n He was considered an heir to the power and riches in Egypt. These riches are temporary and do not satisfy. n He gladly surrendered that for a fulfilling life with suffering and a future inheritance in Christ.

Sonship has its privileges. n Here is the power of faith. We trust God and are willing to sacrifice the present temporary pleasures for the present fellowship with God and the future blessings in Him.

Sonship has its privileges. n Here is the power of faith. We trust God and are willing to sacrifice the present temporary pleasures for the present fellowship with God and the future blessings in Him. n If we do not maintain a living faith we can sell out our inheritance.

Sonship has its privileges. n Have you seen the commercial where they say: “It’s my money and I want it now!” What will you take for your inheritance? (Mt 16:26)

Sonship has its privileges. n Matthew 16:26 - "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

Sonship has its privileges. n There are many who become like Esau. (Heb 12:16-17)

Sonship has its privileges. n Hebrews 12: lest there be any fornicator or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. 17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.

Sonship has its privileges. n I have seen parents who raised their children “in the church” to later immediately follow their children when they leave the Lord.

Sonship has its privileges. n I have seen parents who raised their children “in the church” to later immediately follow their children when they leave the Lord. n Human relationships cause many to “so soon” give up the gospel to accommodate the religions of men. (Gal 1:6)

Sonship has its privileges. n Galatians 1:6 - I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,

Sonship has its privileges. n How many are now apologizing for their former stand for the Lord? (Heb 10:28)

Sonship has its privileges. n Hebrews 10:28 - Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

Sonship has its responsibilities n We must die in order to be adopted.

Sonship has its responsibilities n We must die in order to be adopted. n By faith we were baptized into Christ and are now heirs! (Gal 3:26-29)

Sonship has its responsibilities n Galatians 3: For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Sonship has its responsibilities n In this new birth we have died and are raised to a new life. (Col 3:1-3, 10)

Sonship has its responsibilities n Colossians 3:1-3 - If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Sonship has its responsibilities n Colossians 3:10 - and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Sonship has its responsibilities n How do I know if I have been born again? What is your attitude towards the instructions from God?

Sonship has its responsibilities n A worldly person wearing the mask of a Christian will be miserable. They will view correction as “bashing” and “hating.”

Sonship has its responsibilities n A worldly person wearing the mask of a Christian will be miserable. They will view correction as “bashing” and “hating.” n Discernment becomes a way for the son of God.

Sonship has its responsibilities n Looking at God’s word, testing what is right and wrong and a true desire to see the application of God’s way is what sons of God do! (Eph 5:3-8)

Sonship has its responsibilities n Ephesians 5:3-8 - But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Sonship has its responsibilities n 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Sonship has its responsibilities n Sons of God want their teachings, practices, languages and thoughts challenged.

Sonship has its responsibilities n The stand we take on doctrinal issues, moral issues and our fellowship will be hated by the worldly.

Sonship has its responsibilities n The stand we take on doctrinal issues, moral issues and our fellowship will be hated by the worldly. n The mask wearers in the church will proclaim such as stand as being judgmental, pharisaical, full of despair and “negative”.

Sonship has its responsibilities n We would do well to take a serious look at what we watch, read, and think about. Also look at the pattern in your relationships. Whose son are you?

God molds and nourishes His sons n Our God will make provisions to constantly change you. (Heb 12:5-11)

God molds and nourishes His sons n Hebrews 12: And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives."

God molds and nourishes His sons n 7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

God molds and nourishes His sons n 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

God molds and nourishes His sons n 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Change is not easy.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Change is not easy. n Suffering, rebuke and even doubt can be tools God uses to mold us.

God molds and nourishes His sons n What is your attitude towards the correction god’s word gives? (Jn 3:19-21)

God molds and nourishes His sons n John 3: "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 "But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.“

God molds and nourishes His sons n We must as sons insist on the will of God without compromise or change.

God molds and nourishes His sons n We must as sons insist on the will of God without compromise or change. n Jesus pointed out this very attitude in His ministry. (Jn 8:28-29)

God molds and nourishes His sons n John 8: Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29 "And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.“

God molds and nourishes His sons n Many today are saying that brethren need the instructions of great theologians so we may properly learn how to read scripture.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Many today are saying that brethren need the instructions of great theologians so we may properly learn how to read scripture. n I am amazed at how quickly Elderships and members have embraced an approach to scripture where they in fact become judges of the law.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Sons of God will insist on book, chapter and verse for their teaching and practice in order to glorify God as Jesus did! (1 Pt 4:11)

God molds and nourishes His sons n 1 Peter 4:11 - If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Do you want to be led by the Spirit of God or by “great men?” (Rom 8:14-17)

God molds and nourishes His sons n Romans 8: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

God molds and nourishes His sons n 17 and if children, then heirs -- heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Our God will providentially allow us to be tested. (1 Pt 1:6-7; James 1:2-3)

God molds and nourishes His sons n 1 Peter 1:6-7 - In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

God molds and nourishes His sons n James 1:2-3 - My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

God molds and nourishes His sons n Do you remember significant crossroads in your life?

God molds and nourishes His sons n There comes a time where you break up a dating relationship or a friendship for the Lord. It may be a job or an opportunity to advance in something you deeply care about.

God molds and nourishes His sons n There comes a time where you break up a dating relationship or a friendship for the Lord. It may be a job or an opportunity to advance in something you deeply care about. n Churches are faced with issues they must face and take a stand on. (2 Cor 2:9)

God molds and nourishes His sons n 2 Corinthians 2:9 - For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.

God molds and nourishes His sons n As parents we must wisely act when our children are tested!

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n In the midst of suffering and tests we develop hope! (Rom 5:3-5)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Romans 5:3-5 - And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Hope is based on the certain promises of God.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Hope is based on the certain promises of God. n A living faith does not direct us to man- made doctrines such as “the imputation of the life of Christ” or as some describe as “continuous cleansing.”

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n We have our assurance based upon the certain promises of God and the character of the God who gave them. (Heb 6:17-19)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Hebrews 6: Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Our association with Christians is a taste of our inheritance.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Our association with Christians is a taste of our inheritance. n How do you view getting closer to other Christians? How do you view the opportunities that come with assembling with other Christians? (Heb 10:23-25)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Hebrews 10: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n We are a family of God and joint heirs! This is what must be our basis for our togetherness. (Eph 3:6)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Ephesians 3:6 - that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Marry an heir of God! (1 Pt 3:7)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n 1 Peter 3:7 - Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Our present relationship with God is a taste of our inheritance. (2 Cor 1:21-22)

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n 2 Corinthians 1: Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Please do not let your faith grow weak.

God gives us a glimpse of our inheritance n Please do not let your faith grow weak. n When we see the unseen then we can have an abundant life! (Jn 10:10)
