2. Praying with the Psalms for the People of Haiti Introduction: We pray with and for the people of Haiti as the recovery and rebuilding efforts get underway. We pray in solidarity through these psalms and offer these prayers as our way of being present, of offering consolation, of lifting and sharing the burden this disaster has wrought. 4. “I am wearied with sighing.” - Psalm 6: 7

5. Lord, my God, I call out by day; at night I cry aloud in your presence. Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry. For my soul is filled with troubles; my life draws near to Sheol. -Psalm 88: 2-4

6. “You made the earth tremble, split it open; now mend the rifts, it is tottering still.” - Psalm 60: 3-4

15. Let us Pray: (All) Have mercy on those in Haiti, Lord, we cry out to you. Heal the wounded, save the lives of those who have experienced the terror of the earth quaking. Strengthen and uplift the spirits of the people in Haiti Who are shaken to their very depths. All their eyes are dimmed with sorrow, and the mothers weep for their children.

16. God of Mercy, we cry out to you. Help us to respond to the tragedy caused by the earthquake, and help us respond to the tragedy of unspeakable poverty and violence that has been the reality in Haiti for too long. Help us to be generous in our charity and to be passionate in our advocacy for the long-term development, justice and peace in Haiti. Amen.
