2 What is Twitter? Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send and read other user’s messages, called tweets. Tweets can be up to 140 characters long, and often contain links directing users to external websites of interest. A public SMS service

3 The Stats: Users Worldwide There are more than 106 million accounts on Twitter The number of Twitter users increases by 300,000 every day 20% of users have tweeted 10 times or more 41% of users have not tweeted since they created an account (observers) 97% of users have less than 100 followers
