Hormones play a large role during puberty. They are the cause of many of the body’s physical changes during puberty. Hormones will cause your body shape to change, breasts to grow, hair to develop and periods to begin. Hormones are also to blame for pimples and acne if you experience any, since the oil glands in your skin become more active during puberty. Love them or hate them, hormones will be the cause of many of the changes as you pass from childhood through adolescence. As well as being the cause of many of the physical changes to your body, hormones and emotions are very connected. They can send your emotions into overdrive. You may be feeling on top of the world one day but lousy the next, and you won’t be able to figure out why. Don’t worry – it’s normal to be confused by the effects your hormones are having on you.
