What is Financial Planning? Financial Planning is often thought of or confused with “Investment Planning”. Investment Planning is typically the process of creating an investment portfolio and determining the specific assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.) to be included in the portfolio. Financial Planning is comprehensive, ongoing process, that includes investment planning. It is the process of meeting your life goals through a coordinated “big picture” approach to managing and monitoring all areas of your financial life. These planning areas include: Cash Flow and Net Worth AnalysisInvestment Planning College Education Funding Asset Allocation Personal Income Tax PlanningRetirement Planning Risk Management (Insurance Planning) Employee Benefits Business Financial Planning (For Business Owners) Estate Planning Other areas unique to your situation Each financial decision you make in one of these areas will likely have an effect on other areas of your financial life.
Can I do my own Financial Planning and Investment Management? As most of us are well aware, financial planning and investment information is everywhere. Financial advice is available on the internet, in magazines, and on radio and television talk shows. This information can be informative; however, for most individuals it is very often fragmented, contradictory, and lacks context for your personal situation. In addition, since most of us face time constraints from overloaded, busy schedules, taking the time to gather, objectively evaluate, and apply this fragmented information into a workable plan can be an overwhelming project for most individuals. Even if you have time in your increasingly busy schedule to listen to some of this information, you will very often find the “advice” from one source is completely contradictory to another source.
How We Can Help At Raymond Patsy and Associates, LLC, you are the focus of the financial and investment planning process. Our process is devoted to you and your family and to finding solutions to your financial concerns by providing objective and unbiased advice. We will take the time to help you understand the entire "big picture" of your financial life and help you understand the importance of how each financial decision you make affects other areas of your financial life. The financial plan and investment portfolio we design for you is customized based on your specific goals, priorities, and needs. It is not based on a “hot new stock or mutual fund” or the “newest insurance policy” or any specific financial product. It is based on what is important to you. Our approach to financial and investment planning will bring clarity, organization, direction, and meaning to all aspects of your financial life.
What financial planning issues most concern you? What questions would you like to have answered with objective unbiased advice? When can I retire? Will I have enough money to retire? How much money will I need to live comfortably in my retirement years? How much will college cost for my children? How much do I need to save? Do I have the correct amount and types of insurance? Do I have a system, the time, and the knowledge to monitor my financial progress over the years? Do I really understand investment asset allocation and how to make the most appropriate choices for my investment portfolio? In the event of my death or incapacity, would my heirs, guardians, and/or trustees know where all important financial documents are located? Am I comfortable with the guardian and trustees I have named in my will and their ability to protect my minor children? Am I comfortable investing large sums of money such as a 401k distribution or an inheritance? How do I know I’m making the correct financial decisions for me and my family? Our “8 Minute Financial Checkup” will help you evaluate financial planning and investment management issues you may not have considered.
