6 What is Financial Planning? Financial Planning is often thought of or confused with “Investment Planning”. Investment Planning is typically the process of creating an investment portfolio and determining the specific assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.) to be included in the portfolio. Financial Planning is comprehensive, ongoing process, that includes investment planning. By meeting some licensing and regulatory requirements, most individuals can call themselves a “Financial Advisor”; however, not all “Financial Advisors” have earned the Certified Financial Planner ® designation. When selecting an advisor to help you plan your future and/or manage your investment portfolio, considered selecting an individual who has earned the Certified Financial Planner ® designation. Some of the rigorous requirements to earn and maintain the CFP ® designation include: 100 topic Education curriculum 2-day, 10-hour Examination Minimum of 3 years Experience Adherence to a Code of Ethics Adherence to Practice Standards Renew certification every 2 years Continuing education (30 hours every 2 years) Disclosure of ethical/criminal findings

17 Our Planning Fees All our Financial Planning services are provided on a fee-for-service basis. Fees are calculated on a fixed fee or hourly basis. Fixed planning fees provide a financial planning engagement of between two and six months (at the client’s option). All financial planning and follow-up correspondence on any planning issue is covered by the fixed fee for the duration of the planning engagement. The fee is calculated as a percentage of the client’s annual income or net worth. Our planning fees are not contingent on the purchase of any financial products or the implementation of any plan recommendations with our company. We do not sell any insurance products related to the recommendations in financial plans and we do not require you to implement planning recommendations with our firm. We welcome the opportunity to work with your current advisors (insurance agent, accountant, etc) in helping you implement planning recommendations.
