SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE THE PROGRAM: 1.There will be more time for hands-on exercises or if not, provide PCs to participants so that we can work at the student home or during our free time. 2.That there will be more library and/or museum tour for exposure.
BEST COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM: 1.Use of power point presentation; publishing through the web (WWW) and XML 2.CDS/ISIS library software and the use of the different specific databases for internet searching
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE MANAGEMENT IN THE HOME INSTITUTE : 1.Improve and maintain CDS/ISIS software for the library. 2.Digitization of cartographic materials in the library.

STRENGTH Participants have gained necessary skills suitable in the library/ Information Management disciplines Attending course in Europe and Involvement of different participants from different parts of the world has positive impacts towards social and cultural experiences and/ or integration
Interesting aspects Information and Society aspects: as an interactive and participatory approach to ensure that the ICTs are genuinely enabling technologies for all members of the community. the center that can integrate radio, ICTs and a public library into a single facility or linked as separate facilities into networks. Statistics and Info metric models very effective for library and Information service management
Recommendation for management in the home institution Recommendation for management in the home institution From the fact that the world is now changing to more electronic, emphasis should be directed towards uninterrupted access to ICT for everyone at the university i.e. sustainability issue e.g. 1.More training to its staff a 2.alternative sources of power and fund
Recommendations... Creating a Union catalogue with other Libraries in Tanzania (NUC). This will make it possible for each University/ Institution to purchase the items at their most priority.

Stimulate4/MSB Suggestions to improve the program Review the contents of the program In some specific topics, like “Information and communication technology for information centers and libraries” and “Information sources”, appear certain contents that were not covered (probably because either these are the basics, or there was not enough time to incorporate them in the schedule). Dig deeply into some topics that could be useful for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) management, like: Data-communications networks Client-server systems
Stimulate4/MSB Strong points of the program In general, the course has so far been well– conceptualized and applied: Adherence to the planned schedule is commendable The logistics of the entire program has been good
Stimulate4/MSB Best components of the program Information storage and retrieval Introduction to the ISIS software package family Formats: MARC; application of MARC in ISIS Management in information centers and libraries Statistics for information science and for library management (more examples and applications) The bibliometric laws Scientometrics
Stimulate4/MSB Best components of the program These topics are essentially important since a great part of this knowledge would be incorporated into some projects of CAZALAC, Water Center for Arid and Semi-Arid zones Latin America and the Caribbean (www.cazalac.org).www.cazalac.org
Stimulate4/MSB Main recommendations STIMULATE4 Evaluation of the Students. It is important to note that in the educational process, a final evaluation or a review in terms of the advancement of knowledge of the students should be conducted. Since that, it is recommended to incorporate such evaluation into the program. Evaluation of the Professors. The principal aspects that the evaluation should contain are: Knowledge of the topics being taught Methodology used in class Ability to teach about the specialized topics
Stimulate4/MSB Main recommendations for CAZALAC Incorporate part of the knowledge gleaned from the course STIMULATE4, into the projects of CAZALAC that are lined up for the year 2005, specifically, in the publication of databases and metadata; topics in relation to Hydrology in the Arid Zones of Latin America and the Caribbean.
A Presentation on STIMULATE4 by Sainul Abideen Paloli Librarian Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management-Kerala, Technopark, Trivandrum Karyavattom (PO), Kerala, INDIA sainul at yahoo dot com
Strength of the Programme Concentration on the Practical aspects of Information Presentation, Dissemination/Retrieval and Analysis Well organised programme with highly Scholarly Faculty and Experts. Global Socio-Cultural Relationship and Interaction among professionals from various countries. Well organised to visit the modern Libraries and historical places. Scholarship Support from VLIR.
Recommendations To STIMULATE Organizers A short French/Dutch Language Orintation has to be given, so as to help participants in interacting with Belgium people. Some visits to libraries in nearby countries need to be incorporated so that participants can get an overview of library system there. More computational facility during holidays. More facility for participants for sharing their experties to the fellow participants.
Recommendations...2 To the Host Institution- IIITM-K To Adopt more ICT Technologies for Information Services, including Library Automation. Immediately enhance the Inter Library Services with other Libraries. To start similar Trainining Programmes for fellow Professionals in the country at our Institution. To Organise different Exhibitions connected to library.
Conclusion S Strong and Successful TTechno-Centric IIntegrating MMulti-Cultural UUnique LLife-time Experience AAdmirable TTimely EEffective and Encouraging ¨4¨ For Young Information Professionals
WEAK POINTS OF THE PROGRAM Unavailability of computers after lectures – I suggest that a PC room be organised for the stimulate group to use even after lectures or on weekends. Duration of course is short – suggest that the program be extended to five months in order to cover more topics and master what have been learnt.
STRONG POINTS OF THE PROGRAM The training helped us to obtain new skills in managing information. The Library visits - helped us to see how libraries have developed in using IT to organise, store, access and retrieve information.
BEST COMPONENTS Webpage Design- interesting to learn how to design a page, important for libraries to publish their activities on the web. Elementary Statistics –very important in Libraries as you can use it for different purposes e.g writing reports.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO Swaziland National Library Service Installation of CDS/ISIS software – as it is a free software and no maintenance costs. Purchase or subscribe to different Database companies – this will improve the collection of the library as databases are updated, and more people can use it at the same time.
