11 Topic : Write a business letter to Sodexo Campus Services requesting a better variety of dining facilities in the College of Education. Students will use the shared pen technique to complete a Graphic organizer over the assigned topic.

12 Topic: Write a Business Letter to Dr. Philip L. Gunter, Dean of Education, requesting the privilege to wear jeans on Friday’s during practicum. Students will complete their own graphic organizer over the assigned topic.

PLO: Students will use the completed graphic organizer during the drafting stage to draft a business letter.

16 Body of the letter (the purpose and details) Tell who you are and why you are writing Give a fact, detail, or example that supports your request Give reason to act upon your request or concern Thank the person for their considerations, reading your letter Closing : (Regards, Sincerely, Yours Truly, From, Thank You) Your signature Your printed name

17 Students will write a business letter using the Shared Pen Technique and the graphic organizer from the Prewriting Stage. Topic : Write a business letter to Sodexo Campus Services requesting a better variety of dining facilities in the College of Education building.

18 Students will write a business letter using their graphic organizer that they completed during the prewriting stage. Topic: Write a Business Letter to Dr. Philip L. Gunter, Dean of Education, requesting the privilege to wear jeans on Friday’s during practicum.

19 ELA4W4. The student consistently uses a writing process to develop, revise, and evaluate writing. The student b. Revises selected drafts to improve coherence and progression by adding, deleting, consolidating, and rearranging text. d. Edits to corrects errors in spelling, punctuation, etc. PLO: The students will revise their business letters by adding, deleting, consolidating, and rearranging information.

20 Rough draft is complete, proofread and evaluate the piece of writing to enhance it. “Fine-tuning” Stage Even when a piece of writing sounds great, it can still be revised and edited to be more effective and flow even better!

21  Check for mistakes in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.  Modify wording or sentence structure to eliminate unclear statements.  Verify that all of the components of the Business Letter are included- Return and inside addresses Date Greeting/salutation Body and closing Signature and printed name

22  Verify that the letter is written appropriately for the person it was written for.  Give more details if needed.  This is a great checklist for students to use when they are writing a business letter. It is located at  cklists/businessletter_checklist.pdf

23 Students will revise their rough draft using the Shared Pen Technique and checklist. Topic : Write a business letter to Sodexo Campus Services requesting a better variety of dining facilities in the College of Education.
