NEWTON’S LAWS OF MOTION Newton’s 1 st Law of Motion (aka Law of Inertia) An object in motion stays in motion, or an object at rest stays at rest until an unbalanced net force acts upon it. APPLY NEWTON’S 3 LAWS Students will test the effect of varying mass on acceleration during the lab, Crash Test Dummy. Each CTD is placed, one at a time, in the car. The car is released down the ramp into a block of wood. The students will measure the distance from the block of wood to where the CTD lands when it flies out of the car. Students will create a line graph to show the relationship between mass and acceleration.
