Set 3: Chapter 5.2 pgs Objectives: Give examples of different kinds of forces. Determine the net force on an object Compare balanced and unbalanced forces.
What is a Force? A force is simply a push or a pull.
When you’re really, really smart…… They name a unit of measure after you!
Examples of Different Types of Forces Gravitational Force Friction
Net Force: is the force that results from combining all the forces exerted on an object Forces in the Same Direction: You just add the forces together! Forces in the Opposite Direction: You subtract the larger force from the smaller force.
Balanced Forces Balanced Forces Produce No Change in Motion. The Net Force is Zero.
Unbalanced Forces Unbalanced Forces Produce a Change in Motion. The Net Force on the Object is Not Zero.
Can You? 1. Tell me what a Force is? 2. Tell me what is the Unit of Measure of Force? 3. Tell me what is the Net Force? 4.Tell me what is the difference between Balanced and Unbalanced forces?
