Extracting the Data >1000 questionnaires returned 73 questions Multiple options & comments Use Cheltenham & Gloucester software 15 minutes per questionnaire = 250 man hours! 20 volunteers Own PC’s One co-ordinator Install software 50 questionnaires each Keep nagging until it is done!
Grouping the Results Corresponds to Sections of the Plan Matched to local needs & issues Housing & Development Employment & Business Public Services Facilities & Leisure Traffic & Transportation Environment etc Matched to local interest groups Different order to questionnaire
The Parish Plan Team Representatives from local interest groups Chobham Parish Council Chobham Society Traffic Special Interest Group Chobham Business Club Chobham Common Preservation Committee = Best insight & knowledge + commitment to implement Anybody else willing to help! Protect objectivity
Planning the Plan C&G Software produced Standard report Highlights published directly from this report Standard Section template defined Context Tables (exact data & referenced = auditable) Conclusions Analysis Recommendations Sections Assigned to Team members Maximise community input
Plan Recommendations Best Practice guidelines propose defined Action Plan Timeframes & responsibilities = What? Who? When? Example: Chobham needs Affordable Housing What does a detailed Action Plan look like? How long would it take to compile a credible Plan that can be monitored? Would it follow that course anyway (local politics/interests)? Risks A. Plan delays publication until all such Action Plans are resolved B. Action Plan becomes trivialised “Write to the Rural Housing Trust about how to build Affordable Housing” Opted for Directional Recommendations “4.3 Prepare and Implement an Affordable Homes strategy” Not all Recommendations will be implemented, but those that are will be worthwhile
