1 Matt Fitzgerald ~The Sc pe~ Issue Number Seven | www.jeffersonsurgical.com | 540.345.1561 | May 2011www.jeffersonsurgical.com A newsletter for the Jefferson Surgical Clinic Team Manager – Information Technology Started: May 2007 Favorite Part of Your Job: I really like working with people to solve technical problems and getting them back doing what they need to do as efficiently as possible. It’s a great team we work with here. You Might Be Surprised to Know: I was a competitive swimmer and I used to be a swim team coach back in the day. My Favorite Movie: The Usual Suspects When I Am Not Working: My favorite things to do are outdoor activities Here’s What I Would Say At JSC Orientation: Try to make two pots of regular coffee every morning instead of just one! New, New, New, New Spring Has Sprung. There Are Fresh Faces and New Looks All Over As the recent staff meeting demonstrated, a lot has been accomplished here at Jefferson Surgical Clinic over the past few months. The year has gotten off to a very fast start and to continue our growth and help us manage all the change and details, it was important to add some office staff. Anne Hux joined JSC as a Human Resources Specialist and will work with Karen Tuttle to implement some of the key projects related to our employment team, processes and orientation. She has a lengthy background in HR and was most recently a part of the Robertson Marketing Group in Salem. “I was really looking for something new,” said Hux. “This has been a great start for me and I love the challenge. We are looking at building some new programs and streamlining some successful things that are already in Anne Hux and Martha Anderson Teresa Meador Patricia Creasey place here at Jefferson Surgical.” Anne has been in Roanoke for seven years and moved here from North Carolina. She has two children at home – Will and Lauren (ages 17 and 14) and she enjoys her book club, cooking and her church activities. Her new office mate is Martha Anderson. Martha joined JSC last month as a staff accountant. She joined Jefferson Surgical Clinic from Oak Hill Industries and she also enjoys cooking. Martha also likes outdoor activities and reading as well – when she gets the chance. “For me this new position was a lifestyle choice,” said Anderson. “I have been really looking forward to learning a new industry and in our region healthcare is such a growing field,” she said. “I have learned a lot already and I love what I am doing here.” Two nurses also joined the JSC care team recently. Teresa Meador had been the school nurse at Greenvale Nursery School before starting here. She is our new allergy nurse and so far she loves the people and the pace. Teresa is involved with her Eastern Star chapter and loves to crochet and sew. She lives out in Botetourt and enjoys her grandsons and granddaughter. Patricia Creasey was also a school nurse before beginning her position as Dr. Steven Harris’ nurse. She was at the Bedford Middle School and before that Patricia had been a nurse to a cosmetic surgeon in Lynchburg. She loves it here and says she is learning a lot. Patricia has three children at home – they are ages 11, seven and almost two. Dr. Harron’s New Office on Braeburn Circle “New.” Continued on Page 2...

There are two “open house” events scheduled for this week and both are essentially at capacity at time of printing. On Wednesday afternoon Dr. Paul Lenkowski and Kim Lower Au. D. will be presenting a special “Lunch and Learn” about hearing aids at the Braeburn Circle office (Did you see Dr. Kim on “Our Blue Ridge” – check out the video on our Facebook page or the JSC web site!). Then on Thursday evening – at our Salem Office – Dr. Steven Harris is presenting to another sold out crowd. He’s be sharing information during a Mini Facelift open house. The last one was a huge success so another one had to be scheduled. Continued from Page 1. New Looks and New Offices Are Looking Great for JSC Dr. Raymond Harron started seeing patients at his new office last month and the team over there reports a steady flow. They’ve been very busy and it appears the move has been a successful one. Downtown – at 1234 Franklin Road – the lobby renovation has been going extremely well. A lot of progress has been made and the area is looking spectacular. There are some mid century touches that combined with the colors and accents really complement the feel of the building nicely. Some finishing touches will need to be made, but the project looks like a success. See for yourself…
