1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.
1. The New Testament does not displace the Old Testament; the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament
17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
1. The New Testament does not displace the Old Testament; the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament 2.The Old Testament still speaks. * All Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). *The Old Testament leads us to Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 3:15). *Christ and the Apostles used the Old Testament to demonstrate the fulfillment of God’s promise through Jesus Christ.
4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
