Welcome to Dingwall & Strathpeffer Free Church God Calls Us to Delight in Christ and to Share His Hope.

Psalm 128:1-6* (p. 172) 1How blessed are all who fear the LORD, Who walk the way that he has shown. 2Success and blessing will be yours; You’ll eat the fruit that you have grown.

Psalm 128:1-6* (2/3) 3Your wife will be a fruitful vine; And round your table will be placed Your children like young olive shoots. 4Thus he who fears the LORD is blessed.

Psalm 128:1-6* (3/3) 5May you behold Jerus’lem’s good; From Zion may God’s blessing flow. 6Your children’s children may you see. May God on Isr’el peace bestow!

Prayer & Scripture Reading

Scripture Reading 1 Corinthians 14:26-40 (p. 1154)

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 Orderly Worship 26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two— or at the most three— should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret.

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. 29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop.

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to enquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. 36 Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached?

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 37 If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command. 38 If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored.

1 Corinthians 14:26-40 39 Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. _______________

St Helen’s (Bishopgate) Christmas Message

Psalm 65:1-8* (p. 82) 1In Zion praise awaits you, Lord; to you our vows we’ll pay. 2To you all people will come near; you hear us when we pray.

Psalm 65:1-8* (2/6) 3When we were overwhelmed by sins, and guilt upon us lay, You pardoned all our trespasses and washed our guilt away.

Psalm 65:1-8* (3/6) 4How blessed are those you choose, and bring within your courts of grace! We’re filled with blessings in your house, in your most holy place.

Psalm 65:1-8* (4/6) 5With awesome deeds of righteousness you answer us, O God, Our Saviour, hope of farthest seas and all the earth abroad.

Psalm 65:1-8* (5/6) 6By strength and power you formed the hills. 7You hushed the oceans’ voice; You calmed the tumult of their waves and stilled the peoples’ noise.

Psalm 65:1-8* (6/6) 8Those who inhabit distant lands with awe regard your ways; Where morning dawns and evening fades, you call forth songs of praise.

SERMON: STRENGTHENED TOGETHER 1 Cor. 14 (p. 1154)

1 – WE MEET TOGETHER TO STRENGTHEN THE CHURCH ALL have something to contribute… Control yourself… give, don't just take. Strive to be understood and to be encouraging to others.

2 –WE MEET TOGETHER IN AN ORDERLY WAY… 32-33a – it’s not about being dull, it’s not about being unprepared and ‘spontaneous’… The Holy Spirit is a God of order, and he helps those who make careful plans!

3 – WE MEET TOGETHER UNDER CHRIST’S AUTHORITY Authority does not rest in the men, or in the women… but in God’s WORD. ‘Weighing’ prophecy is a job for the male leadership of the church. We need the authority of God’s true apostles… to build us all up.

Matthew Parris

Psalm 65:9-13* (p. 82) 9You tend the land and water it; you make it rich and good. As you ordained, your streams are full to give the people food.

Psalm 65:9-13* (2/4) 10You drench the furrows of the land; you level off the ground. You soften it with showers of rain and make its crops abound.

Psalm 65:9-13* (3/4) 11You crown the year with fruitfulness; your harvests overflow. 12The grassland flourishes again; the hills with gladness glow.

Psalm 65:9-13* (4/4) 13The pastures green with flocks are clothed, the meadows covering. The valleys deck themselves with corn; they shout for joy and sing.
