2 Flat Top Bunch Shape for Modulation Enhancement Studies Make bunches with flat tops 20 modulation lengths wide Soften the tail drop-off to prevent edge-effects affect the middle plateau Use 1500 –2500 sub-bunches to achieve a smoothly modulated profile Current at flat top is 6kA Run bunch at 5 GeV without compression through the benchmark chicane
