2 Outer Banks Family YMCA An asset to our community: Since inception the YMCA has been embraced by this community –Successful capital campaign raised 2.2 million from local giving –Unprecedented membership growth and support Exceeded market study projections by 58%, currently have 2474 units, approximately 6500 members Responded to growth by adding 8,000 ft2 addition including teen center, racquetball courts, new group exercise studio, expanded child watch and fitness center and outdoor skate park and water park in June 2003 Average over 12,000 visits per month Teach swimming lessons in 3 elementary schools in county

3 YMCA Overview YMCA is a non-profit, 501C3, charitable organization. Outer Banks Family YMCA employees 7 full time and 85 part time employees. YMCA offers program services for people of all ages (infant to senior adult). YMCA Mission: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. YMCA is committed to fulfilling its mission by making sure all programs and services are available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. 5 Continued Community Support Great Opportunities present great challenges: SHR Association Average Units on Scholarship = 10.7% Outer Banks YMCA Units on Scholarship = 20.9% Need for assistance in Dare County almost double that in other areas of South Hampton Roads

6 Outer Banks YMCA Scholarships Awarded Membership –322 Families receiving subsidy –250 Individuals receiving subsidy –Annualized value of scholarships awarded = $219,840 Summer Camp –44 children received subsidy for 2003 summer camp –Total scholarships awarded = $40,649 Other (Swim Lessons, Sports, etc.) –316 youth/adults given scholarships for programs in 2003 –Total scholarships awarded = $8,650
