Mt. Kato Mount Kato is owned by Afton Alps that is Located east of the Twin Cities. Mount Kato is not only a place for skiing: Snowboarding Biking Tubing Mount Kato offers year round fun and excitement!
Brief History Mt. Kato was previously owned by the Anderson Family of Mankato. It was purchased from them in 1977 by Afton Alps. 1982-87 the back side of the hill was opened for skiing. 1991-92 the add on of the ski shop was opened 2000-2001 the new ski patrol/ski school building will be opened.
