◦ This dashboard is a view of the unit census with columns to show: Pt. demographic information ( including security codes) Ancillary Orders – initially just RT and EKG If the ancillary has been paged automatically by the system (or do they need to notify them) A place to make notes for MR or Charge RN to see Future plan to pull in specific data from Teletracker re travel method etc. (once entered in Teletracker)
Moving to a completely paperless system Will stop the printing of ancillary requisitions (e.g. RT requisitions, EKG requisitions, Radiology requisitions, etc.) Will continue to need to see those orders and interact with ancillaries as appropriate Therefore, we needed to come up with a way to notify you of these orders
The New MR Dashboard You can find the MR dashboard under the Dashboards list in the black menu bar of StarPanel. Click Ancillary dashboards to expand the list and select MR- Ancillary.
The MR# column displays the MRN for each patient. Click the blue MRN to go to that specific patient’s chart. The name column displays the full name of the patient. The actions column contains the action button. Click to get to the Actions menu. Age lists the age of each patient. Pb means “Publicity Status.” G=General Care ; N=No info ; S=Security Risk ; U=Unidentified Patient If the patient has been identified as a security risk and an alert has been placed in StarPanel you will see in this column. Click the word Risk to see a description of that alert. Bed displays the room number and/or bed of that patient. Team pager lists the pager for the service the patient is on. Click the blue name of the service in the row of the patient you would like to send a text page about. This will send an electronic page to that team linked to that patient. This column displays the attending assigned to each patient. This column shows the service that each patient is currently on. Displays the admitting diagnosis for each patient. If the letter in light gray color that means StarPanel code form has not been saved as final. The letter will turn black once the form is saved as final. Codes include: F=Full code; I=DNI and DNR ; R=DNR. Green=routine orders and red=stat orders. Hover over indicator to see text of order. An “N” in the indicator box or blank box=page not sent and you will need to call RT about the order per your unit’s protocol. S=page sent to RT and you do not need to call them.
Green=Routine order and Red=Stat order. Follow your unit’s protocol for notifying the heart station of new EKG orders. In the future, we hope to have automatic notifications like RT does, but for now this indicator serves to notify you of new orders. Green=DC appointment has been ordered and CAS has already made the appointment. It also includes appointments scheduled in EPIC. Yellow=There is an order for a DC follow-up appointment, but no appointment has been made. Click in this column on the row of the patient you wish to add a free text note on. For all indicators, users can hover over the indicator to see the text detail about the order
1) From the MR Dashboard, click “Change panel.” 2) Select the unit you work on. The available units are circled below in red. 3) The new unit name should now display at the top along with your patients.
From the MR Dashboard Click on the order indicator Order appears in hover Review the order Click “Acknowledge orders” in frame below
To assist in workflow Acknowledging showing that you saw the order and Electronic equivalent of picking the paper requisition up off of the printer
Once order is acknowledged, the indicator will turn white. If you hover over the indicator, it will display the order along with “Ack by” and the user’s name who acknowledged the order. If you click on the indicator, the orders previously acknowledged will display in the frame below the MR Dashboard.
Why are we doing this? ◦ We are gradually moving to a completely paperless system and will lose the ability to print ancillary requisitions (e.g. RT requisitions, EKG requisitions, Radiology requisitions, etc.). Therefore, we needed to come up with a way to notify you of these orders. How did you come up with this dashboard? ◦ A few months ago we gathered the requirements for this dashboard from a group of medical receptionists representing multiple departments from across the medical center. We took their feedback and have implemented some changes and are still working on future enhancements. We anticipate that as this is used across the entire medical center, many of you will have additional feedback that are unique to your area’s workflow. We expect this and will be continuing to work to improve the product after implementation. Do I still need to call or page the Heart Station when I see that there is a new EKG order? ◦ YES! The EKG technicians do not have the automatic paging system like Respiratory Therapy does yet, so you will need to continue to call or page about EKG’s like you do in your current workflow.
We anticipate that as this is rolled out across the medical center that you will have questions or feedback about the MR Dashboard. CAPS representatives will be rounding to answer questions and take this feedback. You may also email Stephanie Grose or Debi Camp in Systems Support Services.
