We coach to help young men become responsible, accountable, hard working men of integrity who persevere through adversity while striving to have a positive impact on their peers and community.

6 REGISTRATION and PHYSICAL
YOU NEED TO HAVE REGISTERED THROUGH ATHLETIC DEPT. YOU NEED TO HAVE AN UP TO DATE PHYSICAL ON FILE YOU CAN NOT TRYOUT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE BOTH TRYOUT DAYS WILL NOT BE MADE UP FOR THIS

7 Grades & Eligibility Student athletes are required to be passing all of their classes Grade checks are done by the Athletic Dept every 2 weeks during the season. Any player found with a grade of F has 2 weeks to raise that grade to passing. After that time if the grade is still a F the player is ineligible for games until the grade is raised to passing. It is the coaches decision on whether the player participates in practice. Any player who failed a class for 3rd quarter sits a mandatory of 2 games.

8 School attendance & eligibility
Student athletes are required to attend all of their classes during the school day. If you are ABSENT from school for more than HALF the day you are ineligible to practice or play that day. If you have an UNEXCUSED ABSENSE during any part of the school day you are ineligible to practice or play that day. If you are having issues with tardiness you will be suspended from play and practice.

10 Chemical use & eligibility
Student athletes found in possession and/or under the influence of Alcohol, Tobacco, Narcotics are ineligibility from play for 6 weeks (1st offense) and 1 year (2nd offense). Guilty by Association You will get caught.

11 Communication with coaches
If a Player or Parent has a question, concern, conflict It is the PLAYER’S responsibility and obligation to contact the coach. Making/Released from Program Role on Team Missing a Practice/Game

12 Freshmen Tryouts SCHEDULE
When: Monday, March 9th & Tuesday, March 10th Where: Pitch 2 Pitch Burnsville Time: 3:30 pm to 6:15 pm Transportation: Bus will be leaving PLHS at 3:30 pm to take ALL Freshmen players to P2P. Bus will also bring you back to P2P. Do not arrange your own transportation. Leave school bags in locker room.

When: Wednesday, March 11th Where: Savage Sports Dome Time: 6:20 pm to 9:30 pm Transportation: Need to arrange your own. When: Thursday, March 12th Where: Twin Oaks Middle School Time: 5:30 pm to 8:45 pm

14 PLAYER RELEASE DAY Freshmen Release Day When: Friday, March 13th
Where: Prior Lake High School-Lecture Room Time: 3:15 pm Coaches: Coach McDonald, Coach Chinn, & Coach Flug At least 1 coach will meet with each player to inform them of their status in the PLHS baseball program A & B teams will NOT be picked by this date Bring all your school stuff, you will be leaving after your meeting

18 TRYOUT / EVALUATION PROCESS
You will HIT everyday, you will FIELD everyday Everyone will participate in INF drills & OF drills Pitchers will throw bullpens during tryout week There will be a speed/conditioning test everyday Tryouts will be PROCESS oriented, not RESULT oriented Looking at: -Physical Skill -Mental Toughness -Athleticism -Versatility -Work ethic -Team/Program need

20 Filling a role You have to be able to fill one of the identified roles in order to make the Prior Lake High School Baseball Program and a team. -Discussions on these roles occur between the coaches throughout the year. -A Player’s role can change through out the year -If you have questions about where you are THE PLAYER needs to ask.

Players need to turn in a Player/Parent SIGNED Agreement to PLHS athletic office by Tuesday, March 24th 2015 In the PLHS 2015 PLAYER HANDBOOK Handbook was ed out to you and also is on the PLHS website. Any player without an signed agreement after March 24th will be ineligible to practice or play until an signed agreement is turned in

GOLD CARDS Option #1: Do a 1 day Gold Card blitz. You will be required to wake up early on 1 Saturday and sell Gold Cards as a group until they are all gone or Option #2: You are each given 10 to sell on your own time. ***If we have cards turned back in with Option #2 we will still have a 1 day blitz
