2.  Location: Lurie Cancer Center @ Northwestern Univ.  Placement in Cancer Research Labs  Weekly seminars on cancer basics, treatment, & research  Students prepare an abstract & PPT presentation  8 week program, $3000 stipend, housing included  Eligibility : College student, pursuing a science major, economically disadvantaged or underrepresented minority  DEADLINE: MARCH 31

3.  Hands on research experience in a variety of fields (e.g. biochemistry, bioengineering, immunology etc)  Can apply to any of AMGEN’s host universities  Each host university has 25 AMGEN scholars, very selective  Eligibility : College sophomore, junior, or non- graduating senior, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, GPA of 3.2 and above, Interest in pursuing a PhD or MD-PhD  DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 2

4.  Location: Amherst College!  10 week PAID Summer Research Fellowship  Research topics include: Biomimetic Materials, Environmental Science, Fluorescence as a Biological and Biophysical Probe, Neural Plasticity, or Physics/Physical Chemistry  Stipend: ~$3000, 1 meal/day & housing covered  Eligibility: Freshman or sophomore considering a career in science  Deadline: Late February 2010

5.  6-week summer academic enrichment program  Offered at 12 sites, of which you can apply to 3 with one application  Program offers: academic courses, career development, learning skills seminar, clinical exposure, and financial planning  Housing & Meals included, but stipend varies at each site.  Eligibility : Freshman or sophomore in college, GPA: 3.0 and above, U.S. Citizen  DEADLINE: MARCH 1
