2 Glancing When you are glancing at something, you are taking a quick look at it. Tyler kept glancing at the clock to see how much time was left.

3 The mother is scolding her child for misbehaving.
If you are scolding someone, you are angrily pointing out that person’s mistakes. The mother is scolding her child for misbehaving.

4 console When you comfort or cheer someone, you console him or her.
My friends tried to console me after I lost the race.

5 heroic Someone who is heroic is brave and acts like a hero.
The mayor thanked the firefighter for his heroic act.

6 drowsy When you are drowsy, you feel so sleepy that you can’t stay awake. Although Andrew got plenty of sleep, he still felt drowsy.

7 burden A burden is a heavy load that is difficult to carry.
For Sierra, the stack of books was a heavy burden.

8 awe If something fills you with awe, you are amazed by it.
A.J. was in awe on Christmas morning.

9 concentration Concentration is focusing your attention on a single thing. The teacher used her concentration to solve the hard math problem.

10 A dilemma is a problem or a difficult situation.
The children could not solve their dilemma without some help from their parents.

11 commendable If something is commendable, it is worthy of attention and praise. It is commendable that the students recycle to save the environment.
