YMP Mission Inspire and guide Midland County youth- oriented organizations to support and provide positive opportunities for local youth to flourish and thrive.
Physical Health Social, Emotional & Spiritual Health Education Basic Needs & Safety Enhance parenting education Inform and engage the community Increase access to youth programs and services Increase collaboration and community partnerships Build Developmental Assets in our youth GOALS
Objective: Improve Physical Health Goal: Increase/improve coordination & collaboration of services provided to youth that target physical health Achievements Expanded offering of fun runs/walks MCC/MPS Middle School Sports Program Improved injury prevention efforts Increased access to dental services for low-income Access to Summer Food Service Program Opportunities (Low Difficulty/High-Impact) Provide training for teachers, coaches and volunteers to build assets Nutrition Awareness Week: Communitywide messages and programming Countywide collaboration on elementary-level fitness goals

Youth are ready to succeed in school & life Goal: Increase services to enhance the educational systems in Midland County with emphasis on the economically disadvantaged Achievements Attendance/truancy programs Michigan School-Justice Partnership Midland County Career & College Access Network (UCCAN) Middle School Parent Night Opportunities (Low Difficulty/High-Impact) Create a centralized location for youth and parents to gain awareness of youth-related services/activities/programs Increase parent engagement in schools
Objective: Families of youth are safe & economically stable Goal: Increase services to enhance the educational systems in Midland County with emphasis on the economically disadvantaged Achievements Increased intolerance of bullying (DARE Officers, Midland Noon Rotary Advocate for Youth Committee) School resource officers Compliance checks – alcohol/tobacco Youth Law Enforcement Academy After-School Programs provided by the ROCK Opportunities (Low Difficulty/High-Impact) Drug overdose trend in Midland County Impact of social media on youth (sexting/bullying) Texting & driving among youth Improve emergency services for youth in crisis – Text 911
Next Steps TLC will continue to serve as the facilitator of the YMP, but the plan is collectively owned and implemented by Midland’s youth-serving organizations. The plan includes an exhaustive list of ideas and strategies for achieving the goals set forth in We encourage everyone to review the YMP, as well as the updated metrics, to see if there is something you or your organization can do.
