Construction On the 31 st March 1909 construction starts to build the Titanic. The Titanic was built in Belfast by a company called Harland and Wolff between 1909 to 1911 for the White star line shipping company.
Facilities onboard On the Titanic there was a gymnasium, a swimming pool, a squash court and many more. Both first and second class could use a smoking room, a reading room and more.
Maiden Voyage The Titanic set off on her maiden voyage from Southampton on Wednesday 10 th April 1912. Captain Edward.J. Smith was in charge of the vessel and that should have been his last trip before planned retirement.
The Sinking The Titanic was struck by a iceberg on 14 th April 1912. The ship sunk in the middle of the Atlantic and land was very far away so you could not swim. There was 28 people on a lifeboat instead of the capacity of 68. After the last lifeboat left there was still 1,500 people onboard.
Aftermath 2 hours after the Titanic had fully sunk RMS Carpathia came to the rescue and saved a lot of the passengers. She picked up 706 survivors. 1517 people died.
