19 Emirates Authority For Standardization and Metrology UAE Set-Up ESMA I 28th May 2014Austrian Business Council Panel _ Standards in the UAE ESMA is the Federal Authority of Standards 19 Established in 2001  ESMA is a member of the Gulf Standardization and metrology Organization (GSO)  It is the nationally recognized body in UAE for issuing National Standards  The standardization work is conducted by technical committees which can obtain assistance from groups of experts Technical committees consist of qualified representatives of the industrial and trade sectors, research institutes, public authorities, consumer or professional bodies. Technical Committee The Standardization Department (SD) (that considers suggestions from Technical Committees)  Prepare and publish new standards  Adopt International, European and Gulf Standards  Revise and update Emirates standards

24 UAE Set-Up ECAS Program 28th May 2014Austrian Business Council Panel _ Standards in the UAE ECAS - National Conformity Assessment Program of the UAE 24  Program covers all Emirates in the UAE  CoC required for a list of regulated products  Additional requirements from each Emirate can apply to get granted access for products  Electrical and household appliances  Cigarettes  Vehicles and Tires  Oxo-biodegradation of plastic  LPG Cylinders and Valves  Cosmetics ECAS Program Municipality  All Food products  Fire protection and Emergency Systems Civil Defence Dubai Health Authority  Medicine and medical products ECAS is the overarching Program applicable to the whole UAE, additional requirements from Emirates may apply as shown in this example Link Regulation Booklet UAE wide Dubai Emirate
