The harmonized G-Mark aims at opening the market to all GCC countries with one approval Two conformity schemes established / in progress: Toys Low voltage devices (starting from July 2015) More harmonized regulations on GSO level are in planning with further details awaited Facts and Figures on the G - Mark for Toys Established in 2011 GTTR* almost identical to European Toys Directive 88/378/EC Obtain certification to affix the G-Mark on toys 6 different modules Module A is a self declaration (similar to CE mark) GCC notified body is Saudi Specialized Laboratories (Motabaqah) STC * Gulf Toys Technical Regulation 28th May 2014 Austrian Business Council Panel _ Standards in the UAE

19 UAE Set-Up ESMA I ESMA is the Federal Authority of Standards
Emirates Authority For Standardization and Metrology Established in 2001 ESMA is a member of the Gulf Standardization and metrology Organization (GSO) It is the nationally recognized body in UAE for issuing National Standards The standardization work is conducted by technical committees which can obtain assistance from groups of experts Technical Committee Technical committees consist of qualified representatives of the industrial and trade sectors, research institutes, public authorities, consumer or professional bodies.
