A new way to measure participation! T: Target Language: ask/answer questions in Spanish. A: Accurate: use correct grammar. L: Listening: listen attentively while others are speaking. K: Kind: be kind to one another. On a daily basis, you will receive a score for each of the following categories:

Totals The totals per day will be averaged at the end of each week. This means that each week, you will receive a participation grade out of 20 points (in a 5 day week).

Silla Caliente All students will have their names in a basket. A name will be drawn each day and that student will be in the hot seat. The student will sit in a chair in front of the class. Students will ask questions that they may have written out ahead of time. (After the first five students have gone, the class should not need to look at their written questions anymore). The student in the hot seat needs to answer ten questions in complete sentences. Acceptable: ¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo Cristina. Not acceptable: Cristina. If the student in the hot seat does not understand the question, he/she may ask the teacher for a hint (¿Una pista, por favor?). Students will ask ten questions throughout the quarter. This combined with their session in the hot seat equals a total of 20 oral points. This grade will be entered as a participation grade.
