Fructose Is Cancer Food Reference: Heaney, UCLA, Cancer Res; 70(15); 6368–76, August 2, What Will Work for Me? by John Whitcomb Competency:Sugars We have increased their intake of high fructose corn syrup 10 fold in the last 40 years. It’s been added to everything, and subconsciously we just love it. We eat more peanut butter, because it is sweet and our taste buds tell us to slurp up some more. Fructose, in fruit comes with its natural antidote, fiber. But in barbeque sauce, ketchup, peanut butter, orange juice, soda it comes straight up. What happens when it comes that way? This is what Heaney and his team from UCLA report in this journal article. They took pancreatic cancer cells into a petri dish in a lab and added precise amounts of radioactive labeled Fructose or glucose, and then “followed the money”. They traced what happened to the cancer cells as they sorted the difference Between glucose and fructose. Your tongue thinks they are both sugars, and the sugar and beverage industry loudly and Aggressively maintain that they are both interchangeable. This study proves that just isn’t so. The cancer cells can easily distinguish glucose from fructose. With the fructose, the cells turn on a transketolase-driven non- oxidative pentose phosphate pathway to build the nucleic acids that DNA and RNA are made from. (Can you say all that in one breath?) Save it for the Holiday party when you really want to bore somebody) Simply stated: That allows the cells to multiple and proliferate faster. Let me repeat that in real simple language. Fructose is cancer food. Instead of just being turned into energy molecules, the fructose preferentially goes into the pathway the cancer cells use to multiply and divide. Cancer cells aren’t interested in doing the function of the cells they came from. That would be normal activity that required energy. A pancreas cell is meant to use its energy to make digestive enzymes to help you digest food. But a cancer cell is interested in only one thing. Making more cancer cells. And the rate-limiting step is making more DNA so it can multiple. And fructose is the food. Each and every day you have thousands of cancer cells develop in your body that you have to ferret out and control. And you do, for many years. We know, for example, that as many as 30-40% of women have DCIS somewhere in their breasts by age 50, and most of those women will not develop cancer. Same goes for men with their prostates. We will likely find the same phenomenon in all our organs as we study them. The key is finding the trigger that sets off the forest fire of uncontrolled proliferation and spreading. Sounds like fructose is on the short list of likely candidates. So all fructose is cancer food? See paragraph one above. Fiber is a natural antidote! http://www.healthy.net/Health/Essay/Fructose_is_Cancer_Food/1220

Sugar Substitutes Fructose – Agave sweetener 92% Fructose It is nearly impossible, however, to find pure fructose or glucose in the foods we eat. Despite its name, high-fructose corn syrup contains about 42-55% fructose (though there is some that contains more), making it quite similar to table sugar, or sucrose, which is 50% fructose and 50% glucose. Although fructose loosely translates to “fruit sugar,” almost all fruits are a mix of fructose, glucose and sucrose, and in far lower amounts than what is found in most processed foods. Agave nectar, which has been gaining popularity as an alternative sweetener, is actually mostly fructose, with some brands containing up to 92%. Depending on the source and processing method used, agave syrup can, therefore, contain as little as 55% fructose, the same amount found in high-fructose corn syrup -- in which case the syrup would offer no advantage. Coconut Oil Coconut Oil Can Promote Weight Loss by Increasing Metabolism Naturally Monday, August 10, 2009 by: Elizabeth Walling (NaturalNews) With all the dangers associated with thermogenic stimulants, it's no wonder a growing number of people shy away from them. This leaves us to wonder if there is a way to boost the metabolism naturally without resorting to popping pills full of chemicals and caffeine. The secret to a healthy metabolism and a wealth of energy is no fad stimulant: it's pure extra virgin coconut oil. Coconut oil primarily consists of medium-chain fatty acids. These triglycerides can speed up the metabolism because they are so easily digested and converted into energy. Long-chain fatty acids, like those in polyunsaturated oils, are more difficult for the body to break down and use for energy. Instead, long-chain fatty acids are usually stored as fat in the body.Several scientific studies have exhibited these principles. One study examined the effect of medium-chain fatty acids on metabolism. Participants' metabolism was evaluated before and after a meal rich in these fats. On average, metabolism increased by 48 percent. In obese individuals, the increase was as high as an astounding 65 percent. Studies have shown this thermogenic effect can last for 24 hours. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that medium-chain fatty acids were three times more effective at raising the metabolism than long-chain fatty acids. Researchers concluded that replacing long-chain fatty acids with medium-chain fatty acids was an effective method for weight loss. Another study from the same journal showed that eating medium-chain fatty acids increases metabolism and also helps burn off stored fat.metabolism Coconut oil can support a healthy weight in other ways as well: Coconut oil slows down the digestion of food, which helps you feel fuller after a meal. Many people notice that after adding coconut oil to their diet, they are less prone to snacking. - Because it slows digestion, coconut oil also helps prevent blood sugar fluctuations after a meal by slowing the rate carbohydrates are broken down into blood glucose. - The medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil destroy candida, a condition of yeast overgrowth in the body which triggers symptoms of weight gain, carbohydrate cravings, fatigue and many others. Eliminating candida is an important part of achieving permanent weight loss. - Coconut oil is excellent for detoxification. It cleanses the body of many infirmities, balances the digestive tract and nourishes all cells in the body. These benefits restore your health and pave the way for natural weight loss. http://www.naturalnews.com/026808_oil_coconut.htmlcoconut oilcoconutoil
Digestive Enzymes Digestive Enzymes Can Influence Weight Loss The Answer to Stubborn Weight Loss Joanna AmmonsJoanna Ammons, Yahoo! Contributor NetworkYahoo! Contributor Network When I first introduced my article, "Digestive Enzymes - Why Everyone Should Take Them", I was inundated with questions about the weight loss connection with enzymes. The fact is you cannot lose weight without the body being capable of breaking down the food you ingest and converting properly. People struggling with weight loss who started taking digestive enzymes as a part of their daily routine have found the secret to shedding those stubborn pounds. Imagine eating breakfast and it just sits in your stomach cooking at 98.6 degrees. When you are younger you have some digestive enzymes naturally occurring in your stomach that help to break down foods. But as you age, your ability to produce enzymes diminishes due to stress, over eating and taxing the body with foods that contain heavy additives and preservatives. Even if you take fiber it also just sits there and cooks and then most of the food converts to fat and gas in the body. When you take a digestive enzyme right before you eat. You then supply to your stomach the ability break down and convert food to energy and nutrition for your cells to absorb. Digestive enzymes actually help activate the vitamins you are taking by breaking them down getting them into the blood before they are eliminated by the body. I personally take one digestive enzyme right before I eat and then one in the middle of my meal. Although most people just take 1- 2 capsules prior to each meal or snack. Those seeking weight loss may begin to notice some weight loss simply because the body is breaking down fats and sugars more effectively. This results in your food digesting more quickly. You then notice feeling more energy because you are absorbing the nutrients from the food you are eating. When we see people who have large or distended abdomens, this represents the overburdening of your organs and may result in a shortened life span, illness, and increased stress on the body. By adding digestive enzymes to the body, the abnormal aging process could be slowed. Digestive enzymes not only help nutrient absorption and stomach problems but they also relieve undue strain from the other digestive organs linked to keeping the body young and healthy such as the liver and kidneys. Note: Be careful some enzyme formulas are too strong and can harm you stomach aggravate ulcers similar to ibuprofen. We recommend a pediatric formula. The one we carry is called Formula 30. http://voices.yahoo.com/digestive-enzymes-influence-weight-loss-5633502.html?cat=68
Amino Acids Can Amino Acids Aid Weight Loss? Scientific studies have shown the correlation between amino acids and weight loss. Amino acids are the core of all cells in the human body. Intake of amino acids during weight loss insures maintenance of muscle mass while losing fat. When consumed through dietary sources, amino acids perform two essential tasks in the human body: synthesis of proteins and various biomolecules or oxidization to urea and carbon dioxide as an energy source. There are eight essential amino acids which the body can’t create enough of on its own, so they must come entirely from food sources. Without these amino acids, any weight loss efforts will be hindered. Amino Acids and Weight Loss: Pick Up the Protein Maintaining proper diet and nutrition are at the core of using amino acids for weight loss. A protein rich diet, where 30% of calories are obtained from protein, has the right amount of amino acids to provide appetite suppression, as well as increased weight loss. Animal proteins are the richest sources of these essential amino acids, but it is important to keep fat intake in check. Look for lower fat animal proteins and incorporate them into every meal. http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/fitness/weight-loss/can-amino-acids-aid-weight-loss.html

The Ugly -Fat Blockers -Alli & Orlistat How Orlistat Works To absorb fats, your body needs to break them down in the intestinal tract. It does so partially by the action of an enzyme produced in the pancreas that converts triglycerides in ingested dietary fats to monoglycerides and free fatty acids. The name of this enzyme that breaks down fat is lipase. Once acted on by lipase, ingested fat molecules are transported via the bloodstream to the membranes of adipose or muscle cells, bringing calories and health risks with them. As a lipase inhibitor, orlistat reduces fat absorption by as much as 30% This has two important effects. Of course, the unabsorbed fat eventually passes out of the body. Just as importantly, if you don’t cut back on the amount of fat you eat, the lack of absorption will produce some very unpleasant side effects, such as bloating, diarrhea, and even fecal soiling. The result, to quote the manufacturer, is that orlistat “helps your head learn healthy habits that stick… to teach your body a new, healthier way of eating.”6 In other words, you become conditioned to eat less fat so you’ll stay comfortable. The ultimate objective is to provide an incentive to ingest fewer fat calories. All that fat the body didn’t absorb? It carried with it essential vitamins that can only dissolve in fat—the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Clinical trials show that orlistat may induce malabsorption of fat- soluble vitamins to varying degrees, often resulting in the need to supplement patients to maintain normal blood levels.7-11 In fact, orlistat can reduce absorption of vitamin E by as much as 60%.11 This has led to expert recommendations that people taking orlistat should supplement with fat-soluble vitamins.8,12 That’s true even if they are already taking a daily multivitamin. http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/oct2010_Block-Absorption-Fat-Calories-Safely_01.htm
Take Heed. Lest We Forget. In the most rigorous and comprehensive analysis of dieting outcomes to date, a groundbreaking UCLA study revealed that a majority of dieters not only regain lost weight after dieting—they put on even more weight. The researchers also found evidence to suggest that repeatedly losing and gaining weight (so-called “yo-yo” dieting) is linked to increased risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and altered immune function. http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/oct201 0_Block-Absorption-Fat-Calories- Safely_01.htm
