A complex fraction is a fraction within a fraction. Examples: ½ and ¾ What is a fraction represent mathematically?

Changing Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions
How do we change mixed numbers to an improper fractions Let’s say I have 2 ½ pizzas. How many pizzas do I have as an improper fraction?

Improper Fractions Step 1: Multiply your denominator by your whole number ( 2 x 2 = 4) Step 2: Take the number you got from multiplying your denominator and whole and add that to your numerator ( 4 +1 = 5) Step 3: Use the number you received from adding and put it over your denominator ( 5/2)

Example #6 Leah made 5 sandwiches using 1/2 of a jar of peanut butter. Each sandwich got the same amount of peanut butter. How much peanut butter did Leah use in each sandwich?
