Why are these characters lonely? George Lennie Candy Curley Crooks Curley’s wife Slim

Why are these characters lonely? George - only company is Lennie, so even though he can talk to him it is not someone on his level or who can understand him. Lennie – is isolated from everyone because he is still very childlike, so gets left out of a lot of things. Candy – because he is getting old and cannot join in with the men any more, and work with them. Curley – he is not liked by the other men on the ranch and does not have a good relationship with his wife. Crooks – is black, not allowed into the bunkhouse, very badly treated by the other men. Curley’s wife – none of the men on the ranch dare talk to her, does not have a good relationship with her husband. Slim – is respected by all the men, but not really mates with them, being so well thought of and in charge could leave him isolated.

What are these characters’ dreams? Crooks Candy Lennie George Curley’s wife Rabbits Fame Equality Home Security

What are these characters’ dreams? Crooks Candy Lennie George Curley’s wife Rabbits Fame Equality Home Security

Think of two quotes to support these statements… 1.Lennie admires George. 2.George looks out for Lennie. 3.Crooks enjoys having company. 4.Candy’s best friend is his dog. 5.Slim understands George and Lennie. 6.Curley’s wife is unhappy. 7.The setting at the end of the play warns us of what will happen.
