16 Low Working Temperature
All of the electrolyte is made in house at SIC-SAFCO. Solvents used are mixed with ionic compounds to reach the lowest freezing point. SIC-SAFCO is able today to offer electrolyte freezing at lower than -60°C (-76°F) for each capacitor even with different rated voltages from 10V to 630V. This point is particularly important for airborne applications outside of pressured areas, where the outside temperature is often -60°C. Capacitors with climatic category -40°C or -25°C can work at -60°C but the problem appears when the equipment is coming back to ground level. Electrolyte can still contain frozen particles. These frozen particles are weak points leading to possible voltage breakdown. SIC-SAFCO capacitors with climatic categories -55°C do not have this weakness and can be used even with many repetitive quick changes of altitude (Fighter Aircrafts). Export Classification: EAR99

34 Useful Life Time CUSTOMERS ASK ABOUT STORAGE A LOT: WHEN YOU APPLY VOLTAGE AFTER A LONG TIME, THERE IS BREAKDOWN B/W ANODE AND CATHODE AND LIKE A SHORT CIRCUIT, 5 YRS OK FOR LOW VOLTAGE AND 1 YR OK FOR HIGH VOLTAGE: IT’S THE THICKNESS OF THE LAYER: ANOTHER WEAK POINT IS THAT DURING PEAK VOLTAGES YOU DAMAGE THE CAP – LIFETIME IS REDUCED – NEED HIGHER VOLTAGE, MORE THAN APPLICATION 3) WEAK POINT – NO REVERSE VOLTAGE CHARGE/DISCHARGE – TAKES MORE THAN CAP Export Classification: EAR99
