Ron Arad, was an Israeli Air Force combat navigator officer who is officially classified as missing in action since October 1986, but is widely presumed dead. Arad was lost on a mission over Lebanon, captured by Shiite group Amal and was later handed over to the Hezbollah.

Andrei Călăraşu was born in 1922 in Botosani, Romania as Bernard Grupper. Holocaust survivor, famous theatre and film director both in Romania and Israel. In 1965, Andrei immigrated to Israel. He began to work at the Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts, where he established the Film and Television track. He was a member of the founding team of Israel Television.
