2 School Direction School Goals 1. To increase by 3% the number of students who achieve mastery or above in Reading/ Language Arts and Math on the Westest Promote and increase parent involvement in both academic and extra-curricular school activities and membership in school support organizations such as PTO, LSIC and boosters. 3. Promote a culture that fosters and supports student leadership and the academic success of all students. Vision, Mission, Beliefs Vision: At Stonewall Jackson Middle School our students will receive a high quality education in a positive and safe environment that promotes student learning and academic success. Mission: Stonewall Jackson Middle School is committed to the success of every student and will collaborate with parents and the community to provide students with educational experiences and opportunities that foster student achievement. Belief Statements: All Students Can Learn Students Will Meet Expectations Quality Instruction Matters Parent Involvement Increases Student Success Students Need a Safe and Structured Learning Environment

3 Student Support and CSU2 Student Support Career Counseling: – ACT Explore Parent Night (presentation about the test and results, Q & A session) – Monthly Advisor Career/ Decision Making Lessons Retention Program: – Counselor works with Transitional Interventionists to guide and monitor the goal setting of attendance, behavior and academic success of our retention students. Behavior modification and counseling Faculty Mentoring Program – Mentoring services to at-risk students: goal setting, tracking grades, attendance, behavior and social interaction. Incentives are earned. CSU2 Capital High Success University 2 8 th grade move up program – criteria (16 selected) – drop out prevention – Plato credit recovery Successes – 4 finished half semester of courses in 1 st 2 weeks – 11 of 16 have currently have earned 1 credit in History and/or Science!

4 Student Leadership Student Council – Black History bowl (placed 3 rd ) – Manna meal – School-wide recycling program – Special Olympics – Food drives – Teacher Appreciation week – Peer tutoring National Honor Society – 32 members and growing – Pennies for patients – Xmas Cards and supplies for troops – Food drives – Coat drive – Teacher Appreciation week – Peer tutoring

8 SMART Goals and Data Walls RLA Goals (English/RA, Science, Title I, Social Studies) 1.Sixty percent of our students will earn a score mastery or above on the WV Writes program by February 21, This will be accomplished by utilization of writing across the curriculum strategies emphasizing 3.8 paragraphs and the rubric. 2.One hundred percent of our students will be able to answer teacher designed reading comprehension questions correctly by first reading and attempting the questions followed with teacher guided instruction by May 13, Math Goals (Math, Science) 1.Sixty percent of our students will be able to answer word problems correctly on a twice weekly basis assessed through entry/exit activities by March 9, One hundred percent of our students will be able to answer daily sponge Aquity questions correctly by first attempting the question followed with teacher guided instruction by May 13, Data Walls
