FACTORY PRE-FORMED PIPE Increasing importance of trenchless methods Fast & easy installation Sustainable & environmentally friendly Long-lasting systems (+100 years) AGRU developed a factory folded PE 100 pipe suitable for close-fit-lining Conventional PE 100 pipe is folded right after extrusion Installation according to r.tec ® close-fit-process Reduced cross section enables insertion into old pipe Round cross section is restored by steam and pressure Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
6
PRODUCTION & MORE THE CLOSE-FIT-LINER MADE BY AGRU
7
PRODUCTION AND DEFORMATION Extrusion of a conventional pipe - high quality PE 100 used Deformation into a U-shape - reduction of cross-section Coiled onto reels Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
8
STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION Length on the reel between 100 m and 1000 m (depending on the OD of the liner) Reel: Ø 3.2 m | w 2.3 m ca. 700 kg Size of reels has to be considered for transport! Reels are property of AGRU and must be returned! Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
9
INSTALLATION & MORE FURTHER INFORMATION ON
10
INSTALLATION The close-fit-liner is inserted into the old pipe through existing manholes or small installation pits The liner is pulled into the existing pipe by a winch Re-deforming with steam and pressure Cooling down of the SureFIT ® under pressure to ensure a close-fit position Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
11
THE MEMORY EFFECT Above 80 °C the memory effect is activated … 2 h - 120 °C Round shape restored! Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
12
INSTALLATION Installation lengths limited by the reel capacity which depends on the SureFIT ® diameter and SDR DN 80 → > 1000 m DN 400 → ~ 111 m Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
13
JOINING TECHNOLOGY Secure joining technology by welding Electro-socket welding SureFIT ® has different measurements than standard pipes (e.g.: SureFIT ® DN 150 → standard pipe OD 160) Special welding procedure with expander required! Welding is only applicable when the round cross-section is fully restored! Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
14
JOINING TECHNOLOGY Fittings: For most dimensions standard e-couplers are suitable. Some DN require special transition fittings. 15
JOINING TECHNOLOGY Step 1: Preparation of expander, e-couplers, SureFIT ® Step 2: Positioning of all parts Step 3: Closing the gap between SureFIT ® and e-coupler by using the expander Step 4: Welding the e-coupler Standard e-coupler Transition e-coupler Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion

SYSTEM ADVANTAGES Rehabilitation of any kind of damaged pipeline Concrete, steel, cast iron, stoneware, PVC, … Cracks, holes, leaking connections, corrosion, ingrowths, … Advantages compared to other rehabilitation methods No or little excavation, thus no disruption of traffic or nature No removal of old pipe Rapid progress, thus short downtimes Minimal reduction of cross section Smooth surface & good flow characteristics Cost effective and excellent overall economic efficiency Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
19
SYSTEM ADVANTAGES Designed to bear entire load (not dependent on old pipe) Pressure resistance equals PE 100 pipes All advantages of PE 100 are applicable: Permanent leak-proof and long durability (+100 years) Low weight & high flexibility Easy installation and secure joining technology (welding) Earthquake proof and insensitive to settlements No corrosion and good chemical resistance Excellent abrasion resistance Smooth surface, thus low flow resistance No ingrowths of roots High resistance to slow crack growth Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion

STANDARDS AND APPROVALS Manufactured according to international standards EN 14408-3 / EN 14409-3 / EN 13566-3 3.1- certificate (EN 12204) Confirmation of quality for each production lot DVGW-approvals According to GW 335-A2 for natural gas and potable water (SDR 17) Third party inspections High quality is documented Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
23
SOPHISTICATED INVESTIGATIONS Key question Does the deformation and installation process have an influence on the lifetime? Funded research project at the PCCL Comprehensive and systematic investigations Comparison of regular PE 100 pipe and SureFIT ® Final conclusion by PCCL “The obvious reduction of internal stresses and hence the increased resistance to crack initiation and slow crack growth do even present a clear improvement compared to a conventional pipes, underlining the reliability of pipe systems installed in such way.” Introduction Production Installation Advantages Quality assurance Summery and conclusion
24
SUMMERY AND CONCLUSIONS
25
All advantages of PE 100 and PE-pipes are applicable Comprehensive supply programme adjusted to inner diameter of old piping systems High quality ensured due to internal and external inspections, i.e. documented with DVGW-approval Research project showed improved long-term behaviour compared to standard (round) PE 100 pipes (+100 years) Several projects proved suitability in real applications The SureFIT ® / r.tec ® close-fit-liner, installed according to r.tec ® close-fit-process, ensures sustainable renovations of old and damaged piping systems.
