1 SEP-T-VAC SUCTION SYSTEM from tyco

2 Sep-T-Vac Systems Liner + container Canister Accessories
MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS The container is made fom polycarbonate :- makes its strong for re-use Canister is made from polystyrene :- light and economical System is flexible - offers customers what they need Note at this stage that the lid of the liner and container system is slightly different from that of the canister system

3 Liner System Added convenience Choice of systems
Interchangeable systems Added value accessories MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS 1. Made from polyethylene - cost effective means of disposal 2. Self sealing lid- provides leak proof seal 3. Clearly labeled ports - ensures proper connections 4. Hydrophobic shut-off - Prevents fluid from being drawn into the vacuum system, Protects from contamination, automatic sealing of bottle when full 5. Bacterial filter - for increased safety, traps 99.99% of micro-organisms including viruses 6. Port caps moulded to lid - Eliminates risk of lost caps. 7. Clear volume graduation 8. Size range AREAS OF USE For the total disposal of contaminated or potentially contaminated body fluids ina variety of clinincal situations. ASK DELEGATES TO LIST DEPARTMENTS THAT WOULD USE

4 Accessories Specimen Adaptor Tandem tubing
Connecting tubing & Yankauers Gelling agent Disposal Boxes MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS EXPLAIN THE TANDEM TUBING POLICY

5 Specimen Adaptor Enables user to obtain samples - safely
Ordering Information Cat No Carton Qty 40 MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS EXPLAIN SAMPLES -ie TOP Prostate chippings etc Stretch the gauze bag and insert it through the sample port. Secure to the lid and attach tubing to the SA connector Proceed with suctioning After suctionining the SA can be removed by using the grips around the adaptor cap. Either the contents of the bag or the entire specimen adaptor can be sent to the lab.

6 Support Products Theatre Trolleys Universal ring bracket
MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS ESSENTIAL TO KNOW WHY AND HOW THESE ARE NEEDED ASK DELEGATES TO LIST REASONS EXPLAIN POLICY FOR LOAN AND DONATION TO UNITS

7 Universal ring bracket
Designed to hold either canister or liner system Will fit medi-rail system and most floor units. Ordering Information Cat No MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS Some units may need slight modification which should be undertaken by the hospitals Medical Physics Department. The one size of ring bracket fits alll sizes - ease of converstion

8 Disposal Box Box includes a frame which can be locked in place.
A insert prevents liners touching the base of the box. Incorporates regulatory hazard warnings Ordering Information Cat No MAKE THE FOLLOWING POINTS Box includes frame which incorporates bases flaps. AN insert sheet includes 4 holes into which either the 1.2lt or 2.0lt liners and canisters are placed. The sheet prevents the liners from touching the box base and subsequently getting damaged. The box is coloured yellow in compliance with regulatory standards and incorporates hazard warnings

9 How does Sep-T-Vac work?
The Path taken by the fluid Understanding the lid is vital Suction ports Drainage ports Sample port

10 Strategy Wide range of sizes Interchangeable Systems Support Service
Promote Sep-T-Vac’s superior Wide range of sizes Interchangeable Systems Support Service Made using non-PVC materials Accessory Range Filter & safety shut-off system

11 P.V.C Issue Inadequate incineration of Poly-vinylchloride materials may release toxins and chlorides which can damage the earth's atmosphere, by the formation of acid rain. Both RECEPTAL and ESCHMANN are made with PVC

12 Sep-T-Vac’s Strength Unique choice of systems Interchangeable systems
Widest range of sizes Fits most existing brackets Comprehensive range of accessories and hardware

13 Sep-T-Vac’s Weaknesses
Looks complicated

14 Sep-T-Vac’s Opportunities
Most hospital departments Growing trend towards use of disposable systems

15 Sep-T-Vac’s Threats Abbott system well established Pennine
East Healthcare Baxter (receding)

16 East Healthcare STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES THREATS OPPORTUNITIES
Mechanical shut- off valve Flimsy liner Only 1500cc liner Advised to ONLY fill liner to 3/4 mark Price OPPORTUNITIES THREATS Most hospital departments Low price Growing trend towards disposables Sep-T-Vac systems approach

17 Baxter Medi-Vac STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES THREATS OPPORTUNITIES
Mechanical shut- off valve Sales emphasis moving towards other Baxter products Large range of accessories 1, 1.5, 3 lt liner range OPPORTUNITIES THREATS Most hospital departments Growing trend towards disposables Sep-T-Vac systems approach

18 Gelling Agent...Why? Liquid clinical waster is hazardous
Spills, splashes puts out incinerators People are vary aware of cross-contamination of blood borne diseases Provides us with a new promotional approach

19 Gelling Agent What is it? How does it work? What does it cost?
Where can it be used? The gelling agent is POLYACRYLATE and is non-toxic. It works by encapsulation. It bonds WITH fluids There is no chemical reaction Fluid enters polyacrylate molecules through a semi-permeable membrane. Enough gel for 10 litres costs £3.48 It can be used in any clinical situation where fluid needs handling ie suctioned waste in theatre. fluid spills in bottom of bags and boxes.

20 Gelling Agent Along side present system
As an alternative to boxes BUT bags are required and visual confirmation of gelling is required before bagging. EXPLAIN THAT THIS COULD BE A GOOD COST EFFECTIVE ARGUMENT IE Storage of boxes - not needed Plastic bags are cheaper than boxes.
